Nikki Haley Announces Presidential Bid

She is clearly more capable than Sarah Palin...

Last time we had Trump in the primaries running for President we had so many good republicans running as well that it spread out the "rest of them" vote and Trump won with solely his 30% base voting for him. I just hope that doesn't happen again. Like last time, Trump is the last person I want on the top of that ticket, I don't want him to be the nominee and I see so many better options (Haley is just one of them, DeSantis another)... unfortunately so many better options want to run that I fear it will dilute the 70% vote again and we will wind up with what amounts to be the very last person that 70% of republicans want to see at the top of the republican ticket in 2024.

Talk about a silly statement! "more capable than Sarah Palin"! Who's not more capable! That bitch couldn't name a fucking new paper!

The framers of the Constitution did not intend to establish a tyranny of the minority, where one political party continuously is given control of the Whitehouse despite being unable to convince a majority/plurality of voters they deserve the job.
Yes they did not want a single very populous state controlling its neighbors. That is the reason they set up the EC for the WH and 2 Senators per state regardless of the population of that state. They didn't want the tyranny of the majority. This is a Constitutional Republic not a Democracy.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley announced her bid for the presidency on Tuesday, becoming the first to officially challenge former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination.

The GOP ticket is becoming an embarrassment of riches. It’s going to be difficult to make a decision, and I like that. But you guys! You’re going to be busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest trying to come up with enough lies and dirt to win in ‘24. But I have confidence in you. You guys have cheating down to a science.

The EC was a compromise so the slave states would join the union. It was a way they could count slaves who would have no rights.
Majority rule is not tranny. Minority rule is. If you do not want majority rule, you are for minority rule. How can you justify that?

How interesting. I just got reading the same Wikipedia article. I guess since we both read it, either we are both ignorant or we're both enlightened. lol
But I knew it from years ago and just was giving you an authoritative voice. I did not recently discover that Nikki was her middle name on her birth certificate. I didn't make an ignorant mistake like you did. BTW my info came from USA Today not Wikipedia.

I'm pretty sure Slaves weren't voting in 1787.

I'm honestly baffled. Nikki is the middle name on her birth certificate and what her mother called her since she was a child. How can you alter your government name when you go by it?

My brother-in-law is black and goes by his middle name. (His first name is very 'white' sounding). Does that mean he hates himself as has been proclaimed ITT? Is there an unwritten rule minorities can't go by their middle name, even if it is what they have been called since birth?

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. I don't care what someone wants to call themselves. The only thing I pointed out about Ms. Haley is that an Indian-nationality friend of mine disliked the name changes and thought that they were disrespecting their heritage. I did not say that I did, or do I care. It's okay. It's not a thing.

Any person of color…whatever color…or female that approaches the conservative side at all gets marginalized if not outright vilified by the left. Every.single.one.

How very partisan of you to believe so. I'm honestly surprised that you think that, LR. It's not like you to be so.

There have been multiple threads on this board complaining about Haley’s middle name, that she was called that by her mother basically since birth and that she still goes by it today. It clearly bothers people. While there are definitely times I’m sure I over react, I don’t think it’s here. Her name and what she chooses to go by doesn’t bother me.

I don't care so let's stop wasting electrons on it.

Republicans have lost the popular vote in seven out of the last eight presidential elections. That has to change,” Haley said in her announcement video.

It's possible she'd get some traction. She was elected chief executive in a southern state. It's possible. She'll get the female conservative vote in the general - her challenge will be making it past the primary - that's where the most extreme voters vote. She's famous for removing the confederate flag from SC's capitol. Don't know if the MAGAs are going to like that.
