The thing that was amazing about Schindler was that, before the war, he was basically the worst person you could imagine. A German spy in Czechoslovakia, he voluntarily joined the Nazi party, then he arranged things so that he built a fancy factory and hired a lot of Jews because the Nazi government allowed you to pay them less than Poles. Then, of course, he spent his entire fortune shielding them throughout the war.
