As usual, right-wing cowards hide behind the moral skirt of another to protect themselves. The reason a vet defends the anthem is far different from why Donald Trump defends the anthem. Don't pretend to understand symbolism and protest. It's too far beyond you. It requires a degree of nuance that you are fundamentally -- maybe genetically -- incapable of.

Executive Director DeMaurice Smith of the NFL Players Association said the most provocative comments yet by Jerry Jones on the anthem controversy contradicted assurances last week from Commissioner Roger Goodell and New York Giants President John Mara that players could express themselves without retribution.

"I look forward to the day when everyone in management can unite and truly embrace and articulate what the flag stands for, liberty and justice for all, instead of some of them just talking about standing," Smith said. "We look forward to continuing our talks with them on this very issue."

About 25 to 30 percent of voters will support Trump no matter what - a lot of them are right here on the forum! At least the ones who aren't Russian.

It is worth reflecting that George Dumbya Bush blundered us into two failed war (one of which he lied us into) and then took us right to the razor's edge of a Second Great Republican Depression, and was still able to muster about 26 percent approval due to his bevy of mindless rightwing dunces. I mean Dumbya is undeniably one of the worst five presidents that our great nation has ever had, and can't even show his face at a GOP national convention - and he still had the majority of Republicans supporting him through all his legion failures - many of those Bush-ettes are still on this board. That is really remarkable when you think about it!

This may sound strange, but I condemn George Bush for all his ills that you've correctly stated, but I applaud George Bush for his greatest achievement. He's saved the lives of nearly 10 million Africans through PEPFAR. He walked in the White House declaring that he was going to do something serious about AIDS .. and against the wishes of his own party, he did just that. George Bush was better for Africans than Obama was. That's a fact.

My daughter is a senior non-comm in the military, and when she was in Iraq, I used to have nightmares. What Bush and this nation did to the Iraqi people was a crime against humanity. But I can't hate him even though I probably should.

Good point. I think George Dumbya's work in Africa should be held in high esteem.

Few people are truly malevolent to the core, and without a single redeeming quality. Except, perhaps, for a couple posters on this forum!
