There is really no comparison here. Smith and Carlos were literally taking their lives in their hands doing that back then. That is an act of courage when you take something on with the prospect of being harmed. I personally do not see how that applies to what is going on today.

Both are protesting obvious injustice against black citizens.

Both do so with great risk .. and neither is free from the the racist hate and ignorance of the right.

Both will have great social impact in spite of the invented anger of the right.
