NFL Players Kneel, Raise Fists During National Anthem in Preseason Games

Because they won't meet w/ Trump?

Unlike his supporters, they understand what Trump is about, and why he wants to meet w/ them (spoiler alert - it is NOT to address their concerns).

Injustice in the justice system isn’t on their list of grievances?

Trump offered to pardon some people—if the kneelers would bring some names. If I’m so and so’s second cousin in prison, I’m hoping my famous NFL cousin goes and talks to Trump.

But nada. Sucks to be me. Why should Trump take them seriously?

OK. You have the country's attention. How about starting a massive 'get out the vote' campaign? The timing is perfect, just as it was when Kap. failed miserably in his ploy. Idiot didn't even vote.

There are ways to exact change, if that's what the players actually want.

The vote is a ruse, can't fault anyone for recognizing reality. And another reality is that the corporate state police murder unarmed citizens in the streets with impunity.

Used to be "conservatives" would view that as big intrusive govt.

The argument is being made over voting but much of police issues are handled on a local basis. And there are very few Republicans elected in big cities across the country. You look at a city like Baltimore which has had problems. Not only do Democrats dominate but they had a black Mayor, majority black city council and a black police chief and still had all the problems with the police.

So voting is always important but there's also a lot more to it than just getting your people into office

Why should they take Trump seriously? He has proven to be as insincere a man as we have seen in public life, and Lebron is spot on - he uses sports to divide us. They would be a prop for him if they met w/ him.

What Trump is doing is so transparent and obvious. Like everything else, I'm still surprised that half the country gets it, and half inexplicably cannot see it.

What does Don take seriously?

Even if I had TDS, I would take Trump on his offer to pardon my cousin or friend to get him out of prison. Wouldn’t you?

Why don’t they? One almost gets the idea they don’t want Trump to get the props. Or do you have another theory?

It is about the power of the state murdering unarmed citizens in the streets.
Than that's what they should be sitting down talking about. Kneeling isn't going to do it. Sitting isn't going to do. A fist in the air isn't going to do it....is it?

Brace yourselves for a tweetenstorm by the tweenfuhrer

Several NFL players raised their fists or took a knee during the national anthem at preseason games on Thursday night, reigniting the social justice protests that provoked the wrath of President Trump last season. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who had promised earlier this week that players would soon let their stance be known on a new anthem policy, raised his fist, along with cornerback De'Vante Bausby. Jenkins and other Eagles players wore a T-shirt during pregame warm-ups that read, “More than 60 percent of prison populations are people of color” and “Nearly 5,000 kids are in adult prisons and jails.” Several Miami Dolphins players also joined in the protest, with defensive end Robert Quinn reportedly raising a fist as wide receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson took a knee.

Good for them.

The SJW NFL just introduced male cheerleaders. That'll fix their sagging sales.

Hmmmmm...and if Trump did pardon one person, he'd trumpet that as "solving the problem" and how he has done more than "any other President in history" (just like he did w/ Puerto Rico), and there would still be zero progress on unequal treatment under the law in general.

Honestly, and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, you only have a very surface understanding of this issue, and of what their concerns are. Most are protesting because of how they see the black community being treated - they're not protesting because it necessarily affects them personally, or because they have a family member in jail.

Since SJWs howled for cops to wear bodycams there have been quite a few claims of racism exposed as frauds, haven't there?

Some folks need to be talked to. They have no idea this is wrong apparently. Bullshit.

So, cousin stays in jail because they’re afraid Trump would trumpet it. Sorry, cuz.

Just how concerned are they about their grievances?
