NFL Going to Hell

Many people will. But as a lifelong NFL fan I'm going to speak out as many players are. I don't see how one can claim to care about football and watch that play and say this is what they want the future of the game to look like

Why are you trying to speak for anyone but yourself?

if you don't like The NFL, then watch something else, screw trying to speak for other people.

If you teach kids starting the game here's how you tackle they will grow up internalizing how it should be done. When you take professionals who have done it one way their entire life and now say switch it's not so easy. Then you create a rule on how to tackle that no one fully understands be it the players, coaches or refs and calls like this have been happening all pre season. And yes, as a fan complaining about the game is part of the experience. I'm not going to shut up and stop watching because I don't like a rule change but like millions of other fans I will talk about it.

What I said wasn't that complicated. I love the NFL which is why I care about it going to hell with the rule change. If it was a sport I didn't care about, like say soccer, I wouldn't say anything

If you are a NFL fan I'd love to hear you support that call and say you hope to see more of them during the season

That simple? Should the players who are complaining about the rule changes stop playing? Should the coaches who are complaining stop coaching?

If people stopped watching because they didn't like a rule change there would be zero fans of any sport.

Players and coaches will adjust .. they always do.

How many iterations of 'the NFL is doomed' should people who enjoy the game have to listen to every season?

The NFL ain't (eb) going anywhere.

Hey, if as a fan you watch that and think a simple tackle should be a PF and like what we've seen this pre-season then more power to you. But there's a reason sports boards and twitter are blowing up and it's because people who love the game are tired of this cr*p.

I don't agree with that call .. yet, I recognize that bad calls are part of the game .. ALWAYS have been.

That was more than a bad call. That's the new rule. Yes refs made bad calls all the time. This is fundamentally changing the game

Changing the game to adjust to new awareness of the need to try to prevent unnecessary injuries.

The league, players, coaches, and fans will all adjust to the evolving changes and the game will go on.

maybe, but I believe you couple this new cupcake rule with the anthem protests, toss in some really lopsided talent disparages, and the NFL could be looking at lost revenue

I see some really bad 15 yard penalty helmet calls against my team while we are trying to get back into a game, I may tune out, for real

This has happened several times in the past with rule changes. Those who felt it changed the game left, or bitched and continued to watch, like you say, people will adjust and the game will go on. I support the rule changes that protect the players.

Football use to be more like rugby, the game has evolved, as has the equipment, there have been a lot of changes in the 140 years, it survived then, it will survive now.

The sport may grow, again because less danger to participants.

It adjusts to the reality of much bigger, stronger, and faster players.

Some of the whiners think the game can only be played properly with leather helmets. :0)

Football is going to have to be a very different game in the future, you should get used to this frustration. The NFL can either massively change the game to make it less damaging to the players, or be sued into oblivion.

The topic intro. is an anecdote.

A few years ago we found out what the NFL's striped-shirt officials contribute to the franchise.
While on strike, the NFL's regular striped-shirts were replaced with subordinate league officials. The games took longer, and there seemed to be less consistency in such judgement calls.

I don't deny the topic issue.

But I believe the title wording is substantially over-blown.

NFL & NHL have slo-mo instant replay to review such calls.

MLB has lost at least one fan, for lack of it.

One such issue prominent in the news is cognitive dysfunction disproportionately present in NFL retirees.

Thus a severe pet peeve of mine: the NFL congratulatory helmet slap. THESE IDIOTS !! They're doing it to themselves! To their own team mates! Thus the best players are most at risk!

Yes the term "going to hell" is a phrase of speech. It does not literally mean the game is ending tomorrow and the NFL will cease to exist.

Many people aren't sports fans on this board, or only know the NFL from a political perspective, so they won't get it. Herbstreet's tweet said it best, yes the issue of players safety is hugely important if you can't tackle the same will essentially cease to exist
