NFL chooses anti-ICE pro-migrant BAD BUNNY from Puerto Rico to do the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show

The controversy is pure MAGA. In the past a Puerto Rican performer would have been as welcome as any other performer, as any other American citizen. What exactly is the matter with you people aside from bigotry?
That’s it, bigotry and I guess because he wears dresses occasionally. 🤣

He is a very politically motivated person... That's why there's so much controversy... Honestly his performances are not that impressive...

He does rap and he also sings! Ahhhh, you don’t like guys in dresses, why?
I am not among the group of folks they aim to get to watch with folks like that, nor are many Latinos (Machismo is HUGE in the Latino community). I don't think it is particularly insulting to be a dude in a dress, I just don't find them particularly entertaining. I don't dislike dudes in dresses, they are just not often among things I pay any attention to.

Why do you assume I dislike something when all I said is I have zero interest? I have no negative or positive feelings towards dudes who wear dresses.

And your taste in music isn’t acceptable to many, the NFL have people like BB to try and increase their viewership.

Machismo is defined differently in younger Latinos.

While not a politician, Bad Bunny is widely considered a political activist due to his consistent use of his global platform to advocate for political and social causes. His activism is particularly focused on issues concerning his native Puerto Rico and LGBTQ+ rights.
Advocacy for Puerto Rico
Bad Bunny has been a powerful voice for change in Puerto Rico by addressing major political and social issues through his music, videos, and public appearances.
Protests and corruption: In 2019, he actively participated in street protests that demanded the resignation of then-Governor Ricardo RossellĂł and released the protest song "Afilando los Cuchillos" ("Sharpening the Knives").
Government neglect: Following Hurricane Maria in 2017, he released the song "Estamos Bien" ("We're Good") and spoke on The Tonight Show about the slow recovery and federal neglect of the island.
Gentrification: He uses his music to protest the gentrification of Puerto Rico, which has been exacerbated by tax breaks attracting wealthy foreigners and pushing out local residents.
Voter engagement: He frequently encourages young Puerto Ricans to vote and take civic action. In 2024, he offered a buy-one-get-one-free ticket deal to his concerts for fans who showed proof of voter registration.
Decolonization: Bad Bunny’s work often advocates for the liberation of Puerto Rico, rejecting U.S. colonial and imperialist influences.
Support for LGBTQ+ rights
Bad Bunny also uses his platform to challenge traditional machismo and promote LGBTQ+ rights within the Latin music world and beyond.
Challenging gender norms: In his 2020 music video for "Yo Perreo Sola," he famously dressed in drag to critique machismo and show solidarity with those who need support.
Transgender rights: He brought national attention to the murder of a transgender woman in Puerto Rico during a 2020 TV appearance by wearing a shirt with the message, "They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt".
Allyship: As a recipient of the GLAAD Vanguard Award, he has been recognized for his public support of the LGBTQ+ community and for featuring queer relationships in his music videos.
Political endorsements
Bad Bunny has also waded directly into electoral politics by endorsing candidates who align with his values. He endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 U.S. election and has backed the Puerto Rican Independence Party candidate on the island. "

Yup, hence me stating that I know that many would not watch what I would watch... I mean. I am not playing that I think the NFL is "evil" or something. Literally it is a music show, there are zero, and I mean zero, acts that would appeal to everyone. The NFL knows that most people tune out the halftime show, they show it by the commercials they play.

Um...

This is from the constitution.

The U.S. Constitution addresses territories primarily through the Territory Clause in Article IV, Section 3, Clause 2, which grants Congress broad authority over U.S. territories:
Yes congress can do it. You said courts get to decide what rights the people in PR have.

No. I said that Congress gets to. You are misreading what I wrote. I cited some rulings, but stated that Congress gets to decide.

In this case Congress has decided that folks born in PR are citizens, but due process is still a bit cagey...

If they move to the US they can even vote in our elections... and they can move here without a passport or permission... because they are citizens.

It's not that so much that he is from PR. It's that he is pro-illegal-alien and he hates ICE and trump. He's not an entertainer. He's a white-hating racist politician.

Networks have no say in who chooses Super Bowl entertainment its done by committee and sometimes host cities have input.

“It all starts with the NFL's entertainment team, which is made up of a mix of league executives, production experts, and Roc Nation—the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z that's been overseeing the halftime show since 2019. According to The Charlotte Observer, this group carefully puts together a shortlist of potential performers based on factors like an artist's genre, cultural impact, and ability to put on a show big enough to rival the game itself.

From there, the list goes to the host city, which plays a role in finalizing the act. Sometimes, there's an obvious local tie—like when Usher headlined the Super Bowl in Las Vegas after his wildly successful residency there. Other times, the decision is about making a bigger statement. Clemson University performing arts professor Melvin Villaver explained on NPR's Morning Edition that Kendrick Lamar, this year's headliner, represents more than just music. His performance is a cultural moment, fusing hip-hop and jazz influences that tie back to New Orleans, which is the host city for Super Bowl LIX.”

So?

Should they only book artists who haven't voiced political opinions?

I thought conservatives weren't 'afraid of opinions?' What gives?

It all seems pretty snowflakey to me on the right at the moment.
