NFL chooses anti-ICE pro-migrant BAD BUNNY from Puerto Rico to do the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show

Not in my book. PR is not a state.
It's a territory.

Therefore, interestingly, congress has plenary power to govern them, and they do not get all of the rights of a citizen of the US, even though they are citizens of the US unless Congress extends the rights to them.

The Constitution doesn’t explicitly grant full constitutional protections to residents of territories. The Supreme Court, in cases like the Insular Cases (1901-1922), ruled that territories have “fundamental” rights (e.g., life, liberty) but not necessarily all rights (e.g., jury trials or equal protection), unless Congress extends them. For example, Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens but lack voting representation in Congress.

Courts are not allowed to write laws. The very first words of the constitution after the preamble are " All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress of the united states." THINK

Um...

This is from the constitution.

The U.S. Constitution addresses territories primarily through the Territory Clause in Article IV, Section 3, Clause 2, which grants Congress broad authority over U.S. territories:

"The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State."

Anyway, what I said before, it extends from the constitution. This isn't about courts, it is about actual rights and whether folks have citizenship. It doesn't even necessarily follow that being in a territory grants citizenship, it does in Puerto Rico because Congress said so and they have plenary power over Territories.

That's not true at all.... Although like I said , I would prefer marching band and drum lines... That's what halftime is all about...
If they had Disturbed or Staind I'd be watching. But instead they have a guy in a dress, and I think he raps... I have zero interest. Most folks do not watch the halftime show, if you notice the commercials aren't there and the ones that are around it are not on the same level as a Superbowl commercial. They know that eyes just aren't on it.

I also know that while I would watch Disturbed or Staind, tons of others would not. There is no halftime show that will appeal to every group out there. I would not watch marching bands, even if they were awesome. Food would be a higher priority.

I was at the Super Bowl when Paul McCartney performed - so cool to see a Beatle, and he was great.

It's hard to think of too many I've enjoyed or even watched much of outside of that. I'll be getting snacks during this one, but have no issue w/ the choice. As a few have said - the NFL is about money. They didn't make this choice for "politics." That's absolutely ridiculous.

I listened to a few songs... they're pretty awful.... I don't know.I think everybody was happy with justin timberlake...lol;) I'm used to halftime shows not being televised... Or not happening at all just move along to the second half....(Seriously...you wouldn't watch a band or drum line battle? I just love marching bands and drum lines... especially when they can put on a fabulous performance... Half time at the Ohio State /Grambling game was so much fun...) But you make a good point....food is a priority...

They should bring it back.. Entertaining and no controversy....;)
The controversy is pure MAGA. In the past a Puerto Rican performer would have been as welcome as any other performer, as any other American citizen. What exactly is the matter with you people aside from bigotry?

He does rap and he also sings! Ahhhh, you don’t like guys in dresses, why?

That's not true at all... There's plenty of controversy everywhere. This isn't about him being Puerto Rican....you know that... right? I can't even believe you said that...

The reason Americans call Football by its name and Soccer by its name comes from Britlandia....

During the time they were inventing the game of Soccer we were just kicking off a new game called Football in the United States.

The Brits at that time had a habit of shortening things in slang... So, the Association of Footballers (or something like that) became the Assoccer... and that was shortened to just "Soccer" by the time they brought it here to teach to Americans. Being that Americans already had a game called "Football" we adopted the slang "Soccer"... and the "new" sport was born in the US.
