US announces $400 million in new arms aid to Ukraine including tactical bridges, ammunition

The United States on Friday announced $400 million in new military aid, which includes weapons, munitions and tactical bridges to move tanks and armored vehicles, for Ukraine, deepening its involvement in the war in defiance of repeated warnings by Russia.

The bridges could be used by Ukrainian forces that have been training in "combined arms maneuver" warfare, which is the coordinated use of artillery shelling, alongside tank and armored vehicle attack movements, in battles with Russian troops since they launched a military operation in Ukraine a year ago, Reuters reported.

"Assault bridging is essential for combined arms operations. It allows armored vehicles to cross narrow rivers and ditches that would otherwise cause a whole force to slow down," said Jack Watling, a Senior Research Fellow for Land Warfare at the London-based Royal United Services Institute.

"Importantly, assault bridges are only critical for offensive operations showing that the US is preparing Ukraine to continue retaking its territory," Watling added.

The Russians, we are told, have taken Bakhmut and will turn towards Odessa, sealing off Zelensky's Black Sea access.

Biden , having committed himself to defeating Russia as his ' legacy ' will continue to add billions of dollars worth of US arms and support to the hundreds of billions he has already spent on another disastrous war thousands of miles from the people that are paying for it. This continuing support is insane.
Should the Russians face defeat due to massive US and NATO encroachment upon their borders- and that's what this war is- then they will most certainly defend themselves with their thermobaric and nuclear arsenals. Faced with such a defeat so would everybody else.
There are just two outcomes of that. The first is that Russia will create a radioactive buffer state out of Ukraine and the second is full-scale nuclear war . Having pushed the Russians into this war it seems logical to assume that the US will also be the initiators of WW3.

Rightwing Republicans rail against US aid for Ukraine: ‘We’ve done enough’

Marjorie Taylor Greene, an influential far-right Republican in Congress, has called for the US to stop aid to Ukraine, giving added voice to a grassroots revolt in the party that threatens bipartisan support for the war against Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

The Georgia congresswoman is a notorious provocateur who has made racist, antisemitic and Islamophobic statements and promoted bizarre conspiracy theories.

Yet she has emerged as a prominent voice in the House of Representatives after forging a bond with the speaker, Kevin McCarthy, who vowed that Republicans will not write a “blank cheque” for Ukraine.

Greene told the Guardian that Joe Biden is “putting the entire world at risk of world war three”, a view widely held at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), America’s biggest annual gathering of conservatives.

“I think the US should be pushing for peace in Ukraine instead of funding and continuing a war that seems to be escalating and putting the entire world at risk of world war three,” Greene said during CPAC at the National Harbor in Maryland on Friday.

Greene called for US funding to cease immediately, insisting that, while she voted for a resolution to support the Ukrainian people and condemning Russia’s invasion, “we are actually accelerating a war there”.

The Republicans are succeeding in associating the war with Democrats only. That will translate into Republican votes in 2024- if we manage to get to 2024.

Given the constant involvement of the West and Kyiv's refusal to negotiate, there is a danger for the conflict to escalate suddenly and uncontrollably. The United States and its allies are openly using this conflict to wear Russia out military and economically. This may in turn lead to dire consequences.

"If NATO still turns out to be a party to the confrontation, it will be impossible to completely exclude the use of nuclear weapons," experts summarise in the report.

We would like to add here that in his article "Points of no return", Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stated:

"If the question of Russia's existence arises seriously, it will not be resolved on the Ukrainian front — it will be resolved along with the question of the further existence of the entire human civilisation."
