Look at the quote Zurt posted; it's pretty forthright. He acknowledges the 16, but says that after consulting w/ the military, 19 is a safer bet. That's what I expect a CIC to do.

I just think it's being silly to nitpick about 3 months, and call it "lies." Whatever floats your boat, though...

you're the one splitting hairs....and you're not paying attention:

"Barack Obama will work with military commanders on the ground in Iraq and in consultation with the Iraqi government to end the war safely and responsibly within 16 months."

he never kept that promise onceler....that is a fact....to claim he kept his promise and is on schedule is false...and as i already showed, even yahoo is picking up on this....so do bury your head and act like its just dear ol' yurt

Like I said, if you (& now yahoo) want to make hay about this, have at it. I just think it's silly. As "broken promises" go, this one doesn't really rank on the scale I have. I don't think he had a secret plan to make it 19 after promising 16; I think he heard the military leaders out, and incorporated some of their recommendations for a responsible pullout.

As virulently anti-war as I have been, I have also been fairly clear that we had to leave in a responsible way. I was never one of those "leave immediately" kind of libbies. It would never occur to me to make a big deal about 16 v. 19 months after everything we've been through there. That's just not where I'm at.

There is not one single thing untrue about that statement.

And you can guaran-fucking-tee that if Obama stuck to the 16 month timetable we'd hear a relentless stream of bullshit from Yurtsie about Obama refusing to listen to the generals.

dude...i don't think he had a secret plan...in fact i dislike his promises of pulling out by a certain date...previously i applauded the fact he changed his mind....

however, don't say its on schedule according to promise

ah...that is a different quote than yahoo stated....if he said that....then he never lied

i highly doubt combat missions will be done by the end of the month, given the rash of killings lately....and btw...i applauded obama for not sticking the 16 months...

The Obama quote it is right up there in the OP. And maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read on yahoo and treat it as gospel. Or at least get a direct quote before calling people liars.

i never take anything legion troll says at face value and rarely do i read it...

he has previously changed obama's words, so when i saw this, i googled it on yahoo as when i previously asked for a link...legion troll never answered and damo said he just writes his stuff sometimes and mostly gives it verbatim, and since then, no....i never really trust anything he says

had he given a link....you would have a point....but since he didn't...you don't
