Newt Gingrich talks about inventive new ways to punish drug users

why is it that people seem fine and dandy with the government doing all these things but get all irate the minute a private company does the same?

Who said that I was? I agree with tests for drivers and pilots but that's it. I don't know any company in the UK that does random drugs testing, however we do have a habit of following your bad examples.

Let me point out, I wasn't high at work. Pot can stay in your system 3 months. While booze, coke, meth and most hard drugs are out in a day or two.

The Constitution protects people from the arm of government. I used to laugh at weirdos in high school who would get mad and reference the 1st Amendment after I got tired of hearing them and told them to 'shut-up.' I would be like, awesome, I'm not Congress, and my saying 'shut-up' is technically speech on my part, so shut-up, already!

Actually, the government can only drug test where it has a compelling for doing so. And in some states, private employers are also restricted.

Edit: Just to clarify, the government can test applicants, but has much stricter rules for employees.

Correct. But the idea that a private company can't test applicants or employees due to the constitution kind of misses the point of the constitution which restricts the government, not private companies, individuals, etc.

And I should have clarified in my post when the government tests.

Lab urine Bud. You keep it in in a bottle in an inside pocket, so the temp stays up and drinkable. Good stuff.
