SF is a beautiful and safe city, its likely my favorite city. They do have a homeless problem, like most American cities, ever since Regan threw all the mentally ill people out of the State hospitals.

I've only been there once, many moons ago. It IS a beautiful city. Mr. Owl had a week stay there a few years back, for work. He loved it, and did not report human waste, homeless ppl or panhandlers, didn't get mugged, and loved the place. We plan to visit it again some day.

I hope you go, The City By The Bay. I grew up on Tampa Bay, so maybe I am biased toward Bay cities, but the place is amazing. The people are very kind and friendly, the fog in the morning and the sun in the afternoon. The views of the two bridges are awesome. Golden Gate Park beats Central Park hands down.

I have walked around downtown San Francisco, downtown Los Angeles, downtown Oakland hundreds of times since the 1980s, and have never stepped in human feces or been mugged. There is a homeless problem that needs to be dealt with.

They are weak people, easily led, who fear to question authority. The "authority" that they choose to follow reflects their inner beliefs. Some of them, like Toxic Top, live in crumbling neighborhoods where crime is increasing, infrastructure is decaying, and property values are collapsing. Lacking the ability to see a bigger picture, they turn to "news" media like the typical Reichwing fare on Fox and Newsmax, which reassures them that the entire country is in the same dire straits. For some reason, this comforts them but also enrages them. That's why they blame Biden, people of color, immigrants, non-Xtians, etc. for their woes.

Watching the fog bank roll across the Bay and swallow the Golden Gate Bridge was spectacular. On one day, we went to Chinatown and just walked around and had lunch. We just guessed at our order as the menu was in Chinese. It was delicious, although my dad's had tentacles. lol

On another occasion we were walking by an expensive, fancy restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf. I don't recall the name anymore, but it had a flight of stairs up to the entrance. Suddenly, the doors burst open and a man in a tux came flying out, pursued by several restaurant staff ppl yelling at him to stop. He got away. Guess he was a dine-and-dash guy. That was the most "crime" we saw.

All cities have a homeless problem, even our small city by the big lake. Even in Anchorage, Alaska. Even Columbus, Ohio, where Toxic lives. See post above about homeless in Columbus using community gardens as potties.
