Newsome thinks legally owning a gun is SIN

News does not want a single mom to own a firearm to protect herself from the crime that is increasing in California. Newsom likened this tax to a SIN TAX. The law abiding legal gun owners are not the sinners. I have owned guns for ~60 years and currently own multiple guns including scary AR 15s with night vision. I have never even pointed a gun at anyone. Newsom wants to take guns away from people like me. Remember when you need police in seconds the police are only minutes away.

Should gun owners be taxed out of the ability to afford a gun?

Here's what is so interesting to me. Oakland is such an amazing City but has always had crime issues. It is really bad now though, in terms of car breaks and robberies etc. So I read friends/acquaintances on Facebook who are from/live in Oakland and they repeatedly talk about the need for guns for protection. They're not coming from some ideological pro gun/pro 2nd amendment perspective or 'gun huggers' as the term has been used on here. They come from a 'our gov't isn't keeping us safe so we need to do it ourselves' perspective.

That's clearly not stopping Newsom and California from passing laws making it more difficult/expensive to get a gun or amo but it shows they'll be pushback trying to disarm citizens.

Ir would be easier to convince people to not buy guns if they didn't need guns. Most people would rather spend their money on other things.

Normal people would answer "No" to that question. The idiots however say, "Yes". All this will do is prevent decent people from having guns. It will do nothing to address illegal guns. I can't fathom how stupid leftists actually are.

That is a challenge because they keep upping the game.

What goes on in Cafilornia stays in Cafilornia!

You'll stay safe in Texas here with us Dude- unless you get shot on some EXPRESSWAY for flagging some trigger-happy GUNTARD Republican off!

So be very careful when waving with just one finger in traffic here in TEXAS, and you'll be alright!

You guntards really should find another way to settle your differences on the EXPRESSWAYS here in Texas other than shooting each other!

You just risk shooting innocent drivers like ME- when Ya'll do that!!

Good Luck!

Let's compare owning a gun to owning a dildo or pornography. The latter two are indeed regarded as objects of sin because they are a prerequisite to it. Now you obviously buy a gun thinking you might need to use it thus making it a prerequisite. So yes, a gun is a tool of sin. An at times necessary one but still a tool of sin.

A butter knife could be a tool of sin. So could a persons words. That doesn't inherently make butter knives or words tools of sin. What gets me is all the pretending. Are people with working brains supposed to believe this tax is meant to do anything other than make the legal purchase of a gun cost prohibitive to law abiding citizens? Let's not punish bad guys lets punish the sheeple who follow the law.

Well, I'm sure Newsome thinks not wearing your government mandated mask is a sin unless you are evil incarnate and eat at the French Laundry...

Lie, nowhere in that video does Newsom ever even mention the word sin let alone saying what you claim he said, you lied

And the worst part is I actually wasted five minutes watching a shit video from a nobody blogger that I pretty much knew was bullshit before I started

So you are endorsing vigilantism? It is the same type thinking that gets a kid shot when they innocently ring the wrong doorbell or pull into a strangers driveway to turn around

Getting the guns off the streets would be a better approach, admittedly not easy, but you can start with access, and as long as any Californian can drive to a neighboring State, purchase a gun on the Internet, or the Iron pipeline is halted, Oakland will continue to resemble Dodge City of lore

(and by the way, nothing on the PAC’s football success? Thought you’d be all over it by now)

I'll give you credit for admitting this is nothing more than political theater and is only intended to appease the rabid anti gun base of the DF party as gov gruesome gears up for his run at the presidency

As I just noted on the other thread, it is bullshit, tired of the “law biding citizen,””decent people,” nearly every mass shooter was a “law biding citizen,” including Stephen Padock, until the very second they pulled the trigger, it is a bogus argument

And criminals would have a harder time getting guns if we stopped the Iron Pipeline, eliminated private sales, make interstate purchases more stricter, and instituted real gun regulation

Everyone was a law abiding citizen at one point in their lives. This law wont impact the people you want to stop, now matter how much you think it will.

This does nothing to stop the "Iron Pipeline" except for LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

I'm not endorsing anything, I'm saying what people are posting on Facebook. Even in California it is still legal to own a gun. And there are certain elements of self defense laws allowed in the state. That's not vigilantism.

Offering grace, if you live in a low crime area this is not something you would understand. Oakland is a City where less than 5% of voters are Republicans. There aren't a bunch of right-wing gun lovers. But when crime is high and the City is failing in its job to protect its citizens, people are going to do what they feel they have to do to protect themselves. (I'll share an example of the mindset out here. My wife, when sitting at long red lights, likes to look at her phone. I go ballistic on her. I tell her if you are in SF or Oakland you must always be aware of your surroundings, doesn't matter if it's a red light - you keep your eyes up and head on a swivel. Thieves today don't care if you're in the car, they'll rob/attack you anyway.)

I'm guessing you probably live in a relatively safe neighborhood so all this doesn't register with you. But when people don't feel safe, ideology goes out the window real quick. (same reason our progressive D.A. in San Francisco got recalled and they're trying to recall the progressive D.A. in Alameda County)

PAC 12 is best conference in the country. We play nine conference games while most other conferences play eight, which guarantees our teams six more losses and always hurts us in the rankings. But that still doesn't take away the quality of our play this year.

Not true. Gun lovers buy an arsenal. They suffer gun lust. It seems to be an ego thing. I am a tough guy because I have a gun.

As long as they own and use it legally more power to them. Some people would think I am a gun nut but I have guns for conceal carry. I have a couple of different guns for different purposes. A .380 for appendix carry and a 9 mm for back carry. It all depends on what kind of clothing I'm wearing and how it will conceal a gun. I don't CC unless I go into Dallas where there is more crime. I hunt and have rifles and shotguns for that and I have AR 15 for controlling feral hogs on the farm. I have not touched a gun since early spring though and won't until hunting season unless I go to Dallas. I also have some guns that I enjoy target shooting with a Kimber 45 cal. It is just fun to shoot. I only shoot it at the gun range. Again I have owned guns for ~60 years and I have never pointed on at another person. So what is my "SIN " of owning several?
