News just isn't what it used to be.....

Oh - and I love that "we hardly hear" that Obama has ramped up in Afghanistan.

You're not too biased...

where are the photos of the dead bodies? where is the outrage that obama's orders have killed numerous women and children? and if you think the media wasn't talking about bush warcrimes, impeachment etc....you're more bias than i ever imagined....

not true. you claimed i said the coverage decreased when obama took office. what i said was the slant pretty much changed when obama took office. it is disengious to claim they are one and the same.

you can't answer the FACT that there has been little if any reporting on the dead bodies, that iraq is one of obama's greatest accomplishments and why we don't hear about us losing in iraq anymore....instead, we hear how it is a great achievement of our CIC. those are the facts and you can't dispute them, it is why you refuse to answer them, because it doesn't mesh with your theory.

try being a little more objective onceler.

Why is that a FACT? Because you say it is? Do you have any actual stats on that?

As I have said all along, that is not my observation, at all. I barely saw any coverage of the war in Bush's last year at all, and my observation of that is borne out by the stats I posted - from 15% coverage in 2007 to less than 3% in 2008.

To hear you guys, we were seeing body bags in the news every week. Frankly, I don't remember regular casualty reports from about 2004-05 on. There were occasional stories, but nothing like what you are claiming.

So, let's see some stats, or real facts, and not just your observations. From what I have seen, something can be right in front of your eyes, and you can completely miss it, so let's have some other sources for your claims.

What MSM outlet was ever reporting on impeachment and "war crimes" regularly?

I think you are confusing the MSM with DailyKos & other left-wing outlets.

Also, the MSM never reported that "we are losing." You are referring to quotes from prominent Dems like Reid, which were reported on, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to say the reporting was favorable. As usual, I thought Reid put his foot in his mouth, and made Dems look bad....

lol...your bias is humorous

onceler is so right, it was never in the MSM, never

cnn....love how it is now "regularly"...from "i know of no MSM outlets"....

:)

That's it? Really? That's all you have?

Yurt, you're creating an implication with your posts. Pictures of body bags, stories on impeachment & "war crimes," stories about "America losing the war."

What you're talking about is coverage on DailyKos & HuffPost. You're not talking about CNN or any of the mainstream media.

Can you present any facts, or are we basically where we were yesterday on the stimulus thread, with you being presented w/ facts, and countering only with some sort of personal attack?

No problem. I get it now; you googled like mad, couldn't find anything, and then move on to going after ol' onceler and saying things like "your bias is humorous."

Another tough thread for Yurt....

Anyone who doesn't know the msm is biased in favor of the Democrats is fucked up so badly that there is no possible chance for recovery.

typical onceler bullshit, make false accusations that i googled something, when in fact i did not, and claim victory. i don't have the time to google news stories that are years old as they of course would not be on the first pages of google. then again, i think you know this but simply resort to your typical lies and then prance around claiming some sort of false victory.

its assinine to claim the media was not talking about us losing in iraq, that you believe that shows your extreme bias or you're lying, which is it onceler?

you change your stance and then claim "thats all you have"

lol, when cornered you lash out in the hopes of deflecting off your error and typical changing of stances.....

i seriously can't believe you actually believe the MSM wasn't talking about this, that CNN never did stories on us losing in iraq, body bags etc....

where are the body bags now onceler? you can't answer that so you deflect in a pathetic attempt to convince others of what is patenedly untrue. only the most extreme partisan hack believes as you do, else you're lying because you're incapable of admitting your error. which is it?

Dude, it was all we heard about. There is no comparison here. Which talking head that used to constantly bring up the body count on the tube brings it up now? This stuff was in your face during Bush, it's taken a vacation.

Yeah. That vacation that is somewhere between blatant hypocrisy and pure unabbreviated bullshit.

Yeah; forgive me for asking for actual facts, instead of taking your biased observations at face value.

What was I thinking?

Sheesh! I don't know how you can stand it!!

In other words, you used a search term to specifically find a recent article to support your case, and are now to ashamed to admit it. Or you simply lied.

Nah; I just couldn't remember. It was something like "CNN losing war".

Regardless, it was at least one article during the Obama years about America losing; like what I would assume are all such articles over the past 8 years, it's an opinion piece.

The larger point is really that the MSM never "reported" that we're losing, either during the Obama or Bush years. They report on people like Harry Reid saying "we're losing," but they don't report that "we're losing."(unless there is someone high up in the military or admin who actually presents that "we're losing")...

The plain fact is - according to Pew Research (and anyone is welcome to offer other sources) - war coverage in general has been on a steep decline since 2006. From 2007 to the beginning of 2008, it experience a VERY steep decline, from 15% of coverage to 3% of coverage, and based on surveys conducted since, has been on a steady decline even from the 3% range.

I see this as a combination of things. Intense war fatigue on the public's part, as well as "new" stories inserting themselves into the mix, starting with the primaries & election, and over the past year +, the recession. The news coverage matches what opinion polls also state about where the public's priorities are now; "the economy" has replaced "the war" on any list you can probably find.

At about 2-3% total coverage, it's really hard to make an argument that we were inundated with images of body bags, death tolls & other negative war stories during the last part of Bush's term. There is nothing about Obama getting elected that changed the coverage.
