Very much doubt it. The political pressure not to jail a former US Potus is too strong. That's why becoming president
was probably Trump's strongest defense. If he got nothing else out of it, it was still worth it to him.

He literally ran to stay out of jail and stave off creditors. I wonder if those off books Russian notes have matured.

I'm not sure if that's the case. Trump is not really viewed as a 'former President'. Not in the way we think of any of the other guys. I think Trump is viewed as a grifter who abused the office by the majority of the American people. There are simply too many serious crimes that Trump has committed to give him a pass. And I'm not talking about just the basic white collar stuff, or process crimes. This guy is guilty of sexual assault, inciting an insurrection, probably criminal negligence for his personal behavior and his actions as POTUS during the pandemic. I think the majority would be in favor of holding him accountable in some manner, and those aren't petty crimes. Who would have thunk that Epstein would ever end up in jail? I think the 'political pressure' in that one was pretty strong.

20 months just to get the tax returns shows this isn't a 2 year investigation with no results.

What I see is 2 years of Trump doing everything he can to prevent an investigation. Why would an innocent person do that?

I guess for the same reason people who claim it wasn't a fixed election don't want audits.
