New Scam- Watch for It!

I found a new scam from my cable provider. They don't sent me invoices every third month, and of course, I don't pay them that month. Then the following month they add in the overdue amount plus a $4.95 late fee. That's about 10% of my $50 bill, which is over 120% annualized interest. This pattern has established itself over the last nine months.

With all the taxes and fees my bill is a few bucks more than the $50 anyway, so we didn't notice these fees until last night when my wife mentioned the repetitive "lost" invoices.

I called the fuckers up and they had me on hold 45 minutes before someone picked up. The gal had obviously heard the complaint before, since she agreed to refund a late fee without hesitation. I then told her that this had occurred three times, so she agreed to refund two of them. I insisted that she refund all three, and she agreed to that as well. I then told her that I wanted to cancel the TV portion, since I never wanted it in the first place, and the only reason I agreed to it was that without it, there would be a $10 "access fee", and the guy that sold me the service told me that the basic TV would be the same amount, neglecting to tell me that this would be an introductory price. So she gave me the intro price for another 6 months.

At that point I'll call back to cancel it again.

Who is your cable provider?

charter sucks. i hate how im stuck with them because they paid off some officials so that no competition can provide here.

use auto bill pay... that problem will go away.

Or another scam will occur and you won't find out until much later.

The bitch-bot kept wanting me to pay the bill on the phone, since a portion of it was overdue, which would cost me another processing fee. I told her that I'd send a check for the cost of a stamp instead. She'd start a sentence in reply and then check herself, obviously stopped by that blinking green light on her computer screen indicating my excellent credit. She did that three different times during the conversation.
