New hurricane to follow

I ordered a battery AM/FM/SW radio - free shipping and batteries is $35..that's enough to spend.

I'm not buying a fan. I'll get books -actual books from the library tomorrow -you know the kind we used for 1000 years before we decided we could only read by Kindle.

That's entertainment.

NOAA upgraded their GFS a couple years ago and seems to be quite accurate. Up till then EURO was always considered King of the models. These days you have to grab some info from one and some from the other. For the record, for Irma I've been with straight GFS. So these projections will either be all right or all wrong. So far so good...we'll see.

Think they'll arrive before the storm impedes shipping & transport?

I'm sure the insurance pay out, would be more then enough to rebuild. :D

Surprisingly, having spent some time in Palm Beach, I can say that many of the large homes there have no traditional homeowners coverage.

They usually have tons of liability coverage, but since many of the homes aren't mortgaged, and the owners can afford to repair or replace the house if it's damaged or destroyed, a lot of folks don't pay for hazard coverage.

With full-time on-site security, sophisticated alarms systems, extensive fire suppression and detection networks, and 24 hour monitoring, fire isn't much of a concern either.

The local meteorologists seem to be going with the EURO, acting like it's the gold standard. Of course, I don't know diddly about any of it.

Never watched The Weather Channel so much in my life. :D

Irma is giving me fits!

This projection is now showing up since 10pm............

Irma is lifting north from Santo Domingo on Fri. around 2am

heading NW around 11am

above central Cuba by Sat. around 11am (she's not going as far as Havana anymore)

approaching Miami from the SE now maintaining an average wind speed of 130mph around 11pm

heading North (yay!!!) completely clear of land Sunday around 2am

by 5pm she's even further East (out from Cape Canaveral)

Mon. around 7am she's out in the waters by GA

by 2pm. Irma goes ashore at Bald Head Island (just south of Wilmington, S.C.)

SUMMARY:
Gold Coast and Treasure Coast sees top winds of maybe 50mph
The rest of the state will see top winds of 25>40 mph.

Now we wait.....and see if this projection holds.

Hopefully, we'll be able to put away our pbj & crackers and send unwanted guests home, LOL.

I only follow NOAA website...never watch the Weather Channel.

Maybe it will avoid landfall altogether. That's my hope.

I have to say this:

I never thought I would see partisans cheering the destruction of other Americans' homes and property, actually gloating over loss of life and heartbreak and misery.

I have seen it here this past week.

Disgusting.

LOL! Yeah, the left needs to start blaming the west coast of Africa for creating & sending out all these hurricanes every year.

Show me an off the charts hurricane and I'll show you a conservative clod who exonerates anthropogenic carbon forcing as having anything to do with it, despite all the science. The dismissal will always take the form of mocking dismissal and never take the form of evidence based exclusion.

Lot of sick people.

Peak hurricane season has been the same for ages. Sometimes they make landfall...sometimes they don't.

That does explain why you're so full of shit. :D

lol

Why have I never had to evacuate, dumbfuck? It's obvious to anyone except a fucking tard such as yourself. It's because I don't live in a shithole like the South. But you fucking morons have to run for your lives pretty much every year.

Get out the flat bottomed boat and generator, idiot. I'll watch you, with amusement, on the weather channel. In my lounge chair. With my air conditioner on. Drinkable water from the tap and plumbing that's not backing shit up into my basement.

Life is good!

Bs. They are larger, more violent and more frequent now. It's going to take a storm the size of jupiters spot to convince you people.
