New-home sales fall, 2011 could be worst year yet

you have to be a collousal loser to blame Obama or Bush for the Housing bubble

I blame Bush for having zero economic policy, and ignoring the warning signs on his watch. Since 2003, I said repeatedly that he had tunnel-vision on Iraq - and he did. He all but ignored domestic policy; it just wasn't important to him.

I'm ok with blaming him for war mongering, Obama too if you want to be fair.

On the economy how long can you keep trillions of dollars of natural resources out of the kitty and not feel it?

Yes, but if you blame Bush for the bubble, it would be stupid to blame Obama for low new home sales. Low new home sales are a result of the bubble. Thus, if you blamed Bush for the bubble, you would blame Bush for this, too.

In short, Yurt's "gotcha" question is stupid.

I'm just saying that it isn't too hard to blame this on Bush if you really wanted to. If you blame Bush for the housing bubble, it's only natural to blame Bush for the decline in new home starts and sales. Where the bubble was associate with new home starts outpacing new household formation, one would expect new home starts and sales to drop after the bubble bursts and where new household formation is also on the decline. One follows from the other.

right....that is why you blame bush and are now making pathetic excuses for obama.

why not come out and say:

i blame obama

I don't blame Bush and I don't blame Obama. As I said, low new home sales and starts are to be expected in the wake of the bubble and low new household formation. But if you did blame Bush for the housing bubble, it'd be perfectly logical to blame Bush for low new home sales instead of blaming Obama.

Also, the decline in new housing sales is probably a good thing overall. Yes, it sucks for construction workers, but not for homeowners. It represents a decline new housing starts and a curb on the oversupply of housing that, if continued, would depress prices further than they already are. It means existing stock is being bought up.
Bought up by banks.

SEC investigators were too busy watching porn to catch Mahdoff or the snake oil salemen doing shit mortgages. We don't need new regulations, we need auditors that don't get trained by DMV employees.

nigel's theory of obama:

he is not responsible for anything and in 2.5 years he can do nothing at all to help the housing market, thus blame bush!

i know that is the best you have because you know i am right.

The fuck are you talking about. Read post #29.

I was simply commenting on your dumbass question. If you blamed Bush for the bubble and the burst, you should blame Bush for low new home sales now. The latter follows from the former. Personally, I don't think low new home sales and starts are a problem for the housing market, but they are a problem for the economy in general.

Edit: And you're not right. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Why would Obama automatically assume "the blame" simply by being in the Oval Office right now?

The housing market crashed under Bush; we're still feeling the effects of that bubble bursting...UNDER BUSH.

It's pretty easy.

thus post 34 is absolutely correct. in order for your logic to be true, we need:

1. obama not responsible for anything
2. obama cannot do anything in 2.5 years to help the situation

it is fairly simple logic, but obviously to complex for you

Obviously you think Obama is responsible. Maybe you should explain the "logic" behind that. What should Obama have done that he didn't do to improve new home sales? And, better yet, why is higher new home sales an important policy objective?
