end fake money.
fiat currency is the lynchpin in top down totalitarianism.
Fiat currency is real money.
Just as gold and silver is.
Just as clamshells are.
Just as bits of copper are.
Anything that is used to act as a medium between barter is real money.
Money has two characteristics:
1) It represents a value. You can buy something with it. You can sell something for it.
2) It is a unit of account. You can set a price with it.
Money itself is not wealth. It can represent a value, but that value is in wealth you can buy and sell.
Well are the goods and services that people buy and sell. Money is a mere medium to conduct that trade.
It's more convenient than trading chickens for cars, or cow milk for some bread.
That said, fiat money can be printed at will by the fiat (in the United States, the federal government).
Capitalism creates wealth.
If the money is being printed faster than the wealth being created, you have inflation. The value of that money drops.
If the money is being printed slower than the wealth being created, you have deflation. The value of that money increases.
The inherent problem with fiat money is the same as any fascism implementing price controls. They never work. Price controls always cause shortages. When a government prints money, it has to guess how much wealth is being created. It tries to use the past to predict the future. Unfortunately, the past is NOT the future and using it to predict the future is just guessing.
Another problem inherent with fiat money is the fiat itself. Since government can print all the money it wants, there is a tendency to print money just to support the expansion of government. This behavior completely ignores the wealth being created, and often just spirals out of control as the value of the money drops.
People are recognizing that this is happening. They are already looking around for another currency. Once people decide on another currency, there is nothing the government can do to stop it. The fiat money will be rejected. No matter what law they try to pass or how violently they try to enforce them, people will choose the money they will use. Governments forced into this situation of their own making don't last long.
