Tabloid owner American Media agreed to pay $150,000 for story from 1998 Playmate of the Year, but hasn’t published her account

The company that owns the National Enquirer, a backer of Donald Trump, agreed to pay $150,000 to a former Playboy centerfold model for her story of an affair a decade ago with the Republican presidential nominee, but then didn’t publish it, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal and people familiar with the matter.

The tabloid-newspaper publisher reached an agreement in early August with Karen McDougal, the 1998 Playmate of the Year. American Media Inc., which owns the Enquirer, hasn’t published anything about what she has told friends was a consensual romantic relationship she had with Mr. Trump in 2006. At the time, Mr. Trump was married to his current wife, Melania. Quashing stories that way is known in the tabloid world as “catch and kill.”

Mr. Trump and American Media Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David J. Pecker are longtime friends. Since last year, the Enquirer has supported Mr. Trump’s presidential bid, endorsing him and publishing negative articles about some of his opponents.

Ms. McDougal, who continued modeling after appearing in Playboy, told several of her friends she had a relationship for about 10 months with Mr. Trump, beginning in 2006 and lasting into 2007, according to people familiar with her account. Another friend told the Journal that Ms. McDougal’s relationship with Mr. Trump lasted about a year.

So what? Who cares? We know he's a serial cheater. It was said during the Bill Clinton impeachment era that a man's personal life doesn't interfere with his ability to perform his job. Compartmentalize was one of the Clintonista's favorite words. It's between Trump and his wife. Just like Slick and Hillary.

There are a ton of reasons Trump is unfit for the office. This is the least of them

Tough. Hillary's not a cheater but cons keep bringing up her husband's mistresses from three decades ago. What does any of that have to do with her candidacy?

The trite old saying "what goes around, comes around" applies here.

As you know it's her behavior towards those women that comes into play here. When she says women who say they have been raped should be believed and then acts like she did it's going to be an issue. She's suppose to be this great feminist yet she does that?

So if the way to deflect is to go after Trump then so be it but that doesn't change the issue with Hillary

I still say there's a difference between personal and public. Not many women are going to believe their husband's accusers without solid proof. You think Melania would believe this story or any stories about her husband? She might beat him with a 2 x 4 in private but in public she'll play the supportive spouse, just like Hillary.

No insult intended but IMO none of you understand how women think, or why they act the way they do when the husband's caught cheating.
