Obama's healthcare plan that he ran on in 2008 was pretty much ignored when it came to congressional deliberations. Of course, there were good political reasons for this - Clinton's attempt to impose a set healthcare plan on congress did not go over at well at all, so the idea was to let congress work it out for itself. It would be better, however, if the Democrats would develop a more unified strategy, if the executive and legislative candidates would get together and decide what policies they would be able to pursue if given power, rather than simply allowing the executive to run off willy nilly and promise things that they have no power to deliver by themselves, simply embarrassing the party at a later turn when it necessarily has to abandon the candidates stupid, naive campaign promises.
