Nader goes off on Obama, says he's acting white

No one, including Nader, is even remotely suggesting that the issues of the black communtiy supercede issues important to the entire country .. but shouldn't he be at least paying as much attention to his own community as say .. the Jewish community?

And I submit that many of the issues that affect the black community affects the whole of America.

How much does the "war on terror" and being the greatest prison antion on the planet cost the American people?

Calling young black women who are top scholors as well as top atheltes "Nappy headed hoes" is nothing but racism.

Why did he think it would be funny to degrade as nothing but ugly whores young women who were doing great things with their lives?

Much love for you sister but these problems are not specific to just the "ghettos", it's specific to anywhere black people are because the system is racist .. UNDENIABLY RACIST.

My friend Kenneth Walker is dead, shot in the back of his head by a cop while he was doing as he was told and lying face down on the ground .. shot in the back of the head .. not because he was poor or he lived in the ghetto. He had a degree and he was an engineer, loving family man with ZERO criminal record.

There are thousands of stories like Ken's .. but it's more convienient to ignore them.

Ken is dead .. big deal .. we've got other things to talk about.

Total agreement on issues that have overlapping applicability. Here's my problem to a degree, you seem to be saying that racism is at the core of all problems facing blacks, while I would argue that while racism may have played a role in many of the issues now confronting blacks, the larger problem is socio-economic, which effects all those that are poor or lower middle class. For those above lower middle class, the larger problem for minorities, not just blacks, are individuals that may be prejudiced. In this area I think we are talking about prejudice in some human resource people.

I understand there is racism in the system bac and I am sorry for your dear friend and all the many others who have suffered a similar fate. What I am trying to point out wiht this statement is the ways you help to end this cycle is with to help the poor of all colors to end the cycle of poverty. What many whites secretly fear is that he will help only black people. Its a stupid fear but its real. I submitt Obama is as willing to help latinos , asians, arabs, indians and all flavors of Americans as well as black Americans.

That's not what I've said at all .. not even close.

What I said was the criminal justice system is racist and imposes far greater penalties on blacks than it does whites, particularly when it comes to illegal drug crimes where whites make up as much as 72% of all illegal drug users.

You will have a very hard time arguing against those conclusions as they have been proven and documented.

By suggesting I'm saying that racism is at the root of all black problems you offer a strawman that allows you to slide away from the proven and documented truth.

Again, I think I've read incorrectly what you were saying. Please accept my apology. As for the justice system being racist, that I'll not disagree with, though I do think it varies from area to area.

But shouldn’t these sentencing discrepancies be of major concern to all Americans? My feeling is that Obama can address this, and change it, once he is elected. He would be too easily painted as soft on crime if he did it now, by your friends. But, if afterwards, he spent some of his political capitol by going to the American people, and appealing to their basic sense of fairness, laid out the case for structural sentencing changes, using the disparity between crack cocaine and cocaine sentences as his example, I think they would back it. It should be done his first year in office.

I have several problems with this my sister.

It isn't the poor of all colors who are the target of racism in the criminal system .. it's black people and the statistics bear that out.

If Obama is going to govern afraid of what someone says about him and more protective of his image than protective of people who suffer .. then it's going to be a long 4 years and 4 years is all he may get.

I'd like to hear your opinion on this article.
