Nada Huranieh’s death was initially seen as an accidental fall, but investigators soon determined the 35-year-old fitness trainer had been murdered — and that her 16-year-old son was the alleged culprit.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about their investigation into Huranieh’s death, but court records shed some light on her family’s sometimes troubled existence behind the walls of their mansion off a quiet dirt road in southern Oakland County.

Huranieh, 35, died Aug. 21 from injuries suffered in a fall from a second-floor window of the seven-bedroom home on Howard Road in Farmington Hills. Authorities said she was found on her patio by her 14-year-old daughter, who called police to report Huranieh was not breathing.

The death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy, and her son, Muhammad Altantawi, is charged as an adult with second-degree murder. He is being held in Oakland County Children’s Village without bond.

During a pre-exam conference Friday, Judge Marla Parker of 47th District Court scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 17, when she will decide whether Altantawi will be tried in his mother’s death.

The teenager, from all accounts, is a good student without any prior legal trouble. If found guilty of killing his mother, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

“My client has expressed his innocence and said he had nothing to do with his mother’s death and is looking forward to being cleared in the legal process,” said the teen’s attorney, David J. Kramer, who declined further comment.

But court records and people familiar with the family reveal stress inside the home that predated the death, with Muhammad Altantawi being placed “in the middle” of adult issues, including allegations of domestic violence, a parental split and Medicaid fraud charges against his father, a Canton-based physician.

Huranieh and Bassel Altantawi, who wed in Syria in 1999 and had three children, were in the midst of a divorce; both were scheduled to give depositions the week she died.

Huranieh had filed for divorce in March 2016. According to court records, the teen’s father, Bassel Altantawi, now 46, violated orders for supervised visitation and allegedly met several times with his son at a strip mall near the home more than a year ago.

The father also expressed concerns that his children were being “Americanized” by his wife in contrast to their Syrian and Islamic roots, court records indicate.

One of Huranieh’s ex-attorneys, Carolyn Markowitz, said the son expressed anger toward his mother and frequently slipped away to meet his father, who was ordered out of their Farmington Hills home following an incident in which he was accused of throwing his wife down a flight of stairs on Valentine’s Day in 2016.

The suspected Parsons Green bomber was a 'problematic foster child' who was allegedly arrested two weeks ago near to where the attack took place before being freed.

Police are searching a house in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, after the 18-year-old was detained in the 'port area' of Dover earlier today while apparently attempting to leave the country.

The home raided by police in connection with the attack, which injured 30, is owned by a couple who were both appointed MBEs for fostering hundreds of children.

Penelope Jones, 71, and her husband Ronald, 88, have raised 268 foster children in the house over three decades and the last eight have been refugees.

Officers stormed the house at 2pm around six hours after apprehending the suspect in the departure lounge of the Port of Dover.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said: 'At approximately 7.50am local police officers in Kent arrested an 18-year-old man in the departures area of the port in Dover.

'He was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism and transferred to custody in a police station in London.

'Officers from Kent police had to partially evacuate the port of Dover at 11am this morning. That work is now complete and they have recovered a number of items during that search. At around 1.40pm with the assistance of Surrey Police, we evacuated a house on Sunbury-on-Thames. As a precautionary measure we evacuated the surrounding buildings.

One year after a Somali-American man went on a stabbing attack at a St. Cloud mall, injuring 10 people, the off-duty police officer who shot and killed the suspect is speaking out for the first time, and says he hopes other officers would have done the same thing in his situation.

Dahir Ahmed Adan, 20, stabbed 10 people at Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud last Sept. 17 before he was shot and killed by Jason Falconer, an off-duty police officer from the nearby city of Avon. The FBI has said that Adan may have been radicalized and that the attack was preplanned.

Falconer told KNSI radio he was shopping for a gift for his son when he saw people running from a man in a security uniform. He said Adan asked Falconer if he was a Muslim, and Falconer replied "no." He noticed Adan had "crazy eyes."

When Adan turned away, Falconer saw he had a knife in each hand. Falconer identified himself as an officer, and at one point, it seemed Adan followed Falconer's commands to lie down.

"Witnesses said he counted down 3,2,1 and jumped up and charged at me. As he charged at me is when my first volley of shots took place," Falconer said. While some call Falconer a hero, he said: "I'd hope to believe that another off-duty officer in my situation would have done the same thing."

Shortly after the attacks, an Islamic State-run news agency claimed Adan was a "soldier of the Islamic State" who heeded the group's calls for attacks in countries that are part of a U.S.-led anti-IS coalition.

Students in Turkey are returning to school Monday where they will be taught evolution for the last time in their biology classes. Next fall, evolution and Charles Darwin will be scrapped from their textbooks.

Turkey has announced an overhaul of more than 170 topics in the country's school curriculum, including removing all direct references to evolution from high school biology classes.

The upcoming changes have caused uproar, with critics calling them a reshaping of education along the conservative, Islam-oriented government's line. Opposition parties and unions have organized protests against the changes, demanding that Turkey provide a scientific, secular education for its students.

A second suspect was arrested on Saturday in connection with the subway attack at London’s Parsons Green station that left 30 people injured, officials announced on Sunday as the city’s terror threat level is downgraded to “severe.”

A 21-year-old man was arrested late Saturday night in Hounslow in west London under the Terrorism Act, authorities said. Another 18-year-old man was arrested earlier in the day at the port of Dover, where ferries leave for France, and is also being held under the Terrorism Act.

A Muslim immigrant shot his daughter in the head and the face as she slept

A immigrant father admitted that he shot his 27-year-old daughter to death because he felt she disrespected his rules.

Jamal Mansour, 64, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault for the Sept. 27 death of Tahani Mansour, a pharmacist at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center and the youngest of seven kids.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo sentenced him to 22 years in prison. Prosecutors and defense attorneys recommended Russo sentence him to between 15 and 25 years.

Mansour cried throughout the hearing. He apologized to his family members who wept in the seats in the back of the courtroom. He waved to them and blew them a kiss as he left the courtroom in handcuffs.

Police had only been called to his home one other time, in 2012 when Mansour threatened to kill himself because his daughter was on a trip in Las Vegas.

Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Andrew Rogalski said the father and daughter had several issues with each other in the months leading up to the shooting.

He said Tahani had been dating a non-Muslim boyfriend for about a month and worked to keep it a secret from her father who would not have approved.

“When she was with him, she had to pretend like she was with other people,” Rogalski said. “She was worried about what would happen if he found out.”
