I sent Mr. Wild this email:
Mr. Associate Vice Chancellor Rob Wild
Sir, I am a veteran. My brother fought in the South Pacific during WWII. My father fought in WWI. This gives me no more right than anyone else to protest this incident but it is especially egregious to me and, I believe, to others who have fought and bled for the ideals represented by our flag.
This nation welcomes immigrants from all corners of the world. This disrespect for our country is anathema to those who have served and to those who have not.
Please consider those who love our country and have demonstrated that love. Perhaps this young man could be disciplined in a way that would teach him respect and that he is free to demonstrate his hatred because of those who have served.
