I remember when the Taliban destroyed Buddha statues in 2001 and how horrifying it was to see those ancient artifacts turned to rubble.

Bad enough to see the latest destruction happen and be helpless to prevent it, without making a snarky comment about "Muslim liberals."

That said, movements that seek to erase history tend to end up on the wrong side of history. Hitler did it. Radical Muslims do it and now we have a domestic movement, on the left, that's doing it.
