Like I said, it's not just genetics, it's culture too. The most important determining factor is experience. Obama might have white ancestry, but because of how he looks, he's had the black experience. So it doesn't make much sense to see him as anything other that black.
Now if we're going purely by genetics, then Obama is half Caucasoid and half Negroid. That's the anthropological view of race and ignores things like culture and society. If you want to get technical, there is no white race or black race. It's more accurate to say that Whites and Blacks are peoples or ethno-racial groups.
By allowing for freedom of association. Humans are tribal. We'll always self-segregate based on race. The best thing we can do to reduce racial tension is allow people to self-segregate however they want.

When it comes to race and the current anti-white culture, it goes beyond partisan politics. The entire establishment calls any pro-white activity "racist." It is true that different aspects of the establishment have different talking points. The Left says if you don't believe in white privilege, you're racist. The Right says if you don't support Israel, you're racist. So they're not totally the same, but it's essentially the same goal.
