I don't know what he did that was so talented and excellent. He only got elected because of Ross Perot. He never got 50% of the vote in either Presidential election. Less than half of the American voters voted for him both times.

That's not my idea of talent or excellence.

I see your point. Would you force a woman to have the child if she was raped by a stranger of raped by a family member? I can't do that out of sensitivity for the victim. She is a victim. That's a difference.

If I believed a fetus was a human being my conscience wouldn't allow anything other than insisting she bear the child. How does her being a victim justify killing an innocent human being, again assuming the fetus is a human being. What is your concern regarding the fetus being a victim? Does the woman's suffering surpass the suffering of the human being who will be put to death?

What I'm seeing you put forward is you believe the death of an innocent human being is preferable to the suffering of the woman. If that is the case I don't see you putting much value on human life.

No, they cannot. He has stated that in the case of rape he disagrees that it is a reason to abort. His rationale is that we do not kill the rapist and yet are all too willing to kill the innocent unborn child. Remember that less than 2% of all abortions are due to rape.

That was hardly the point being made. The Directive exists and the nun abided by it, so the bishop excommunicated her. Why? Clearly because he thought the mother should die in hopes of saving the fetus. Or that both should die because it would be God's will.

Lol, you don't reverse an excommunication on appeal as it's not a legal issue. The bottom line is that the particular bishop, Olmsted, wanted to gamble on the woman's life AND the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops backed him up.
