Hunter Biden received favorable treatment from federal prosecutors because his father is president, according to two-thirds of voters in a new Rasmussen poll.
A total of 67 percent of voters say it’s likely the first son got a sweetheart plea deal because of who he is, while 28 percent say it’s not likely.
Hunter is expected to evade jail time when he heads to court July 26 to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay taxes, after a five-year investigation in Delaware plagued by allegations of political obstruction from whistleblowers.
The majority of voters (55 percent) disapprove of Hunter’s plea deal, with 41 percent “strongly” disapproving, while 37 percent approve.
Asked if there is a “two-tier” justice system in America, 57 percent of voters agree and 35 percent disagree.
The skepticism breaks down along party lines with 84 percent of Republicans, 68 percent of independents, and even 49 percent of Democrats believing Hunter received favorable treatment from federal prosecutors.
Self-described “liberal” voters were the least skeptical of the deal, with just 29 percent believing Hunter got special treatment.
On racial lines, 56 percent of black voters, 66 percent of white voters, and 74 percent of “other” races thought it likely Hunter got favorable treatment......
