Great for writers, but too far-left extremist
Medium was a great experience for me as a writer. It has a huge number of writers and editors ranging from best-selling and celebrity to rank beginners. For those who want to get serious about writing, there are plenty of members offering incredibly valuable advice. I disagree with some of the bad reviews here; I can't speak to the tech & payment problems, but Medium has a lot going for it. As a platform it's easy to use with high domain ranking. You'll get better exposure here than on most other platforms.
The platform's content contains a lot of crap but it also hosts sterling writers and publications like The Atlantic and the NY Times. Read the content you're interested in and the algorithms will catch on.
Unfortunately, I've reduced my rating because, as others have noted here, Medium is a hotbed of far-left SJW extremism and in the past year appears to have affected the staff. People DO get banned for having unwoke opinions. I'm one of them. They also take down stories they don't like.

The majority of voters say President Biden is too lenient with Russia as Moscow undertakes a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released Friday.
Sixty-four percent of registered voters in the survey said Biden is “too lenient” with Russia, while 31 percent said he handles Moscow “just right.” Five percent said he’s “too tough.”
~The majority of voters appear skeptical about the impact sanctions could have, with 61 percent in the poll saying they will be “ineffective.”

U.S. Sanctions Halt Allseas Work on Nord Stream 2

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Swiss-Dutch company Allseas said it had suspended work on building a major Russia-to-Germany natural gas pipeline in order to avoid U.S. sanctions contained in legislation signed by President Donald Trump on Friday.
The move throws into doubt the completion date of the $11 billion project that Moscow had said would be ready in months, jeopardizing plans to quickly expand Russian sales of natural gas to Europe via pipeline.
The participation of privately-held Allseas, a specialist in subsea construction and laying underwater pipeline, is integral to the completion of Nord Stream 2, led by Russia's state energy company Gazprom.
"In anticipation of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Allseas has suspended its Nord Stream 2 pipelay activities," the company said in a statement dated Dec. 21, seen by Reuters shortly before Trump signed the bill.
