Morning gains in the Stock Market!

So this bill is not socialist?
I've never said it was. I have been clear, in the short term it's a massive corporate welfare program, in the long term it is designed to effectively eliminate company-provided health insurance and force people into government approved insurance.

That particular insurance is designed to fail over time as people choose to pay fines rather than actually carry insurance. Once the companies fail, as they will do as companies with no profit are wont to do, then it will be socialism.

This was just the "first step" on the road to Canadian-style socialist mediocrity. Instead of making something spectacular, the US has chosen to follow in the footsteps of the past into mediocrity and stagnation I only hope we have the will to fix it before it goes there.

Jarod, it's because it's a gift to fascists with trillions in contracts up for grabs and new customers mandated by law. Congratulations on a major victory for the military industrial complex.

two of the biggest idiots on this site are topper and jarod. They both spell like third graders, so it's really no suprise they neither understand the points made nor the economics of the artificial bubble now present in the insurance stock markets. Hey, maybe they should raise interest rates to stave off inflation!!

It seems like most of your support for Dems is because you love seeing the Repubs get hammered, especially over Iraq - really you are motivated by revenge. Just seems an odd trait in someone who is an astute investor.

I was against this piece of shit bill, I'm an astute investor but that's not great achievement. Most people think reading the wall street journal everyday is booring. Yet that's about all it takes.
Unlike you I'm a dad of 3 20 something sons. The wars suck for them in that if they were real wars like WWII or Korea, Nam they would be drafted. Call me over protective. I don't want them killed in a war for any political reason.
And my boys are the same reason I hate the bill. Most wouldn't buy insurance till they had kids unless a corp provided it. Maybe they are simple reasons, I'm a simple dad. I think both parties are pretty fucked up, but dems are more pussiefied so they need some victories to not be afraid to bring our Hero's home.

The Republicans and the Tea Party idiots have consistantly called it socialist. You likely know better, but socialist is the Republica talking point.

I disagree that it will be mediocrity... Many nations have a simular health care policy and a higher health standard that the United States does... its not perfect, but its improvement.

Jarod, you are an intellectual lightweight, so you really can't follow Damo's arguments. You should just shut up and keep waving your pom-poms

But, but the only people who proposed reinstituting a draft are Democrats?

And they escalated the war in Afghanistan, also Dems started Korean war, Kosovo, Haiti (1994) and Nam, while many voted for Iraq anyway.
I don't see why they are always given such a free pass.

I'm a Dad too, I don't see either party that serious about ever forcing anyone to fight, but clearly the Dems by their actions would seem to be the bigger threat.

Yeah, democrats are to blame for Iraq. Glad you cleared that up for me champ

This is actually one of the best posts you've made in a while. I agree 100%, except for nitpicking that Korea and Nam were undeclared, so they were just as unreal as the current wars.
