When I first heard of it, I thought it might have been a teabagger. However, my strategy of not rushing to judgement and thinking through things rationally (the opposite of leadership) prevented me from attempting to use it as a card against Republicans.
 
Will Democrats rant and rave and show outrage over this pinhead wishing Republicans dead as they did about Sarah Palin's using the image of crosshairs on a map to designate voting districts that were picked for election defeats of some politicians...?????

I'll bet Maher smiled, nodded approval and sucked up the applause of the idiots that make up his audience....hes the pinheads hero just like Olbermann was/is.....

Yep, those two statements would be exactly the same. It's not like people don't non-seriously say "I wish all the [insert opposing ideology here] would be dead" non-seriously all the the time, and it's not like people who want gays dead don't have a long history of honestly wanting them to be dead and oppressing them. Let's ignore all historical context and be pedantic.

They would be exactly the same since Dan Savage is so against hatred and vitriol against gays (a group) and yet the fucking hypocrite has no problem with hatred and vitriol against conservatives (a group). But thanks all the same for proving another of my contentions that liberals always make excuses for their hypocritical behavior and illogical thinking.

They are both groups, yes, but that doesn't make the two statements equally offensive. I would say the same thing if someone had said "I wish all liberals were dead!" after a little bit to drink. It's more like how people have yelled that they with their sibling were dead, it's not a serious statement, just an untasteful and extreme form of hyperbole. Oppressed and discriminated against groups have a long history of people actually wanting them to be exterminated, which is what makes such rhetoric especially inappropriate.

You are not a national personality with a platform dork. His statement was as vile as if someone in his position had called for the annihilation of any group-especially in light of his platform to stop hate speech! Further his comment came on the heels of the misogynistic call to angry fuck two political conservatives. But continue on with your sophomoric hair splitting.

I would think that anyone who said to eliminate all gays was much more of a douchebag than anyone who jokingly said to eliminate their political opposition.
