More Troops to Afghan

People would be more willing to invest in Afghanistan if there was a viable strategy that hasn't already been tried. Pressuring Pakistan over terrorism in Afghanistan sounds great, but it's really nothing new.

The ANAF is now a valid fighting force unlike when Obama did his surge..that's not the problem..
the problem is getting to a political settlement.

That's not going to happen w/ the Taliban making gains ( and Russia's current negotiation includes them)

The only way to stop that is to roll back their gains, and force a grand political settlement.
If that doesn't work we stay in a whack a mole posture

we need an India buy in. we need to stop the porous border thru Wazi and Quetta. we need to rollback the Taliban
we need to get some Russian cooperation ( and the b.s. in DC has surely harmed that).

We couldn't do it back in 2001 when bush first started the war and kept adding troops throughout his presidency. 36000 troops on the day of Obama's inauguration. Eight years of bush leadership resulting in zilch.

That was the Hillary legacy - her exact goal in Libya. she demanded that from the NTC ( and they lied)

Bush was an idiot. instead of letting the Northern Alliance just seize control as they did, he had to "spread democracy" and negotiate a Karzai presidency.
Karzai was corrupt to the hilt and saved his skin by acquiesing to the Taliban
