Instead of a hodgepodge of state and local laws, gun laws need to be nationalized. Make firearms violations a federal offense. Including strawman purchases and sales. No mercy. No early out. Let’s see how that works, shall we?
But, regarding criminals and guns, you didn’t address the question about machine guns.

Why would it make me uncomfortable? The machine guns are designed to kill as many people as possible within a short frame of time.

Okay. What exactly are you trying to argue about? You keep talking about machine guns AKA assault or automatic guns.
Is this difficult for you? You can’t figure out why machine guns are not being used in these shootings? Really?

Not difficult. Just wondering why you are talking about machine guns when they didn't use them in those mass shootings.
There is no way we can get anything done with gun control. Maybe in a few years, but nothing can be done about it now. That statement curses 200,000+ people to death, and I feel terrible about it, but we just cannot do anything....
Anything, other than govern as well as possible in all the ways available to us. If the Democrats do that, then in a few years we can get some reasonable gun control passed. It will not be great gun control, but it will be something.
The filibuster is going nowhere, but we can make it more real. For instance, going back to the literal filibuster means that Republicans actually have to publicly stand up and admit they have a problem with the bill. If it is a bad bill, they will be rewarded by the voters. If they are wrong, they will be punished by the voters.
In 2017, there were 39,773 total gun deaths. In 2020, the number easily topped 41,000. That would be over 112 per day.
In 2018, 38,800 people died in car accidents. America is working hard to reduce that number, and liberals have been leading the way on that. That is 106 per day, not 115, and many of those would be difficult to prevent, not easy. Remember, if someone has a heart attack while driving a car, and gets into a car accident, it is usually counted as a gun death. Whereas, if someone has a heart attack while carry a gun, it would never be treated as a gun death.

There are plenty of countries with varying degrees of gun control. These people live perfectly fine lives. Everything is not gone.
Meanwhile, some of the worst countries on earth have plenty of guns.
Car deaths have been falling, and they now no longer kill more people. That is because of "car control". We do not allow people with mental problems get a license, or buy a car. We ban the use of cars in unsafe ways. Way more Americans use a car every day than use a gun, but they now kill less people because we use cars more carefully.
I really do not think there is a great argument for spur of the moment suicide. Maybe doctor assisted suicide under extreme circumstances, but having anyone feeling down try suicide with a gun just seems stupid to me. There is also the failure rate, and the accidental killing of other people.
I just disagree that providing guns for people to commit suicide is a public good.
Killing is a guns main purpose. Transportation is a cars main purpose. You can use a gun for target practice... To practice for killing... But you can also use a car to practice for transportation.

Guns are designed for killing. Military guns are meant to kill the enemy. Police guns are meant to kill someone attacking a police officer, or a civilian. Self defense guns are meant to kill someone potentially attacking the gun holder. Hunting guns are meant to kill game.
You may argue that target shooting guns are the exception. The reason for target shooting is to train to kill, so not even there. Besides, most target shooting guns are just regular guns that are used for target shooting. I have never heard a sniper say, "I can't shoot someone with a target shooting gun."
Cars can kill also, but their main purpose is to transport things. Car designers will try to make cars less lethal. Gun designers want guns to be more lethal.
