More Fast and Furious guns surface at crimes in Mexico

Three more weapons from Fast and Furious have turned up at crime scenes in Mexico, CBS News has learned, as the toll from the controversial federal operation grows.

According to Justice Department tracing documents obtained by CBS News, all three guns are WASR-10 762-caliber Romanian rifles. Two were purchased by Fast and Furious suspect Uriel Patino in May and July of 2010. Sean Steward, who was convicted on gun charges in July 2012, purchased a third. The rifles were traced yesterday to the Lone Wolf gun shop in Glendale, Ariz.

During Fast and Furious and similar operations, federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) encouraged the Lone Wolf and other gun stores to sell massive amounts of weapons to questionable purchasers who allegedly trafficked them Mexican drug cartels.

Patino is said to have purchased 700 guns while under ATF's watch. Ever since, a steady stream of the guns have been recovered at crime scenes in Mexico and the U.S. But the Justice Department has refused repeated requests from Congress and CBS News to provide a full accounting. An estimated 1,400 guns are still on the street or unaccounted for.

Oh that seems to perhaps be related to Benghazi coverage. Another phony scandal.

Here's the thing about what the Republicans did with the Birth Certificate deal, they inoculated the President from claims of scandal and made it difficult for any Republican screaming scandal to get any creditability. Its the same thing with the "Bengazi scandal" and the "IRS Scandal". They have played to fast and lose with the word scandal, screaming it at every turn.

The Fast and Furious deal is the only one that has even a hint of scandal that can be connected to the President, and I doubt it goes that far....

But what you cons did was become the boy who cried wolf.

Wasn't me, always thought is was stupid, whether directed at Obama or McCain. Went beyond stupid, once he was elected.

the fact that everyone is ignoring the real issues with F & F should be an indictment on humanity in general.

My response was regarding the birthers. Why is it that so many of the extreme left, with notable exceptions, tend towards being well informed albeit duplicitous? OTOH, the right extremists tend toward ignorance and 'truths' and their own 'facts'?' I don't mind arguing with the opposition, it's annoying though when those whom believe they agree with you, you want to slap? OO7 was one, there are others, here and on other boards.

labeling people 'extremists' is nothing more than an indicator of someone willfully ignoring the truth because the truth is too earth shattering for their fragile mindsets.

semantics only. the statement still applies whether you use extremist, nutter, or even fringe.

Ok, give me some examples of reasonableness from either of the 'fringe' you speak of regarding an issue? Pretty difficult to find such in the ranks of Congress, extremists do not tend to get elected. In both parties though, they are the 'base' that can be counted on-thus get more attention than they should, IMO.

I'm thinking of the classic ines of 'Obama always lies....' or 'Bush had Saddam in his sights in 1999...' The 'facts' of GW's ignorance or non-stop lawsuits regarding the 'birth certificate.'

maybe you missed my post about those who use the labels.

'reasonableness' is nothing more than finding a compromising fantasy that soothes our fears and anxiety about the world.

Perhaps that's what makes you smarter than me? Regardless of the terminology, there is a usefulness in life of categories. Sometimes one becomes surprised when a right wing extremist suddenly tries to become a left wing extremist. Let's just say I'd be shocked to suddenly see evince start to sound like OO7, though it would just be an inside-out change.

OTOH, I'd be shocked to find Damo suddenly going for 'big government' or 'more war.'

or onceler stating that a national media issue of racism, really isn't? then watching the masses of liberals go for his throat, calling him a closet right winger? yeah, I see stuff like that all the time. I get shit like that on this board all the time. both left and right mainstreamers have labeled me at one time or another, based upon the particular topic I expose the truth about.

I hardly consider myself extreme, though I suppose few do. I'm conservative, though not crazed with social issues. I am for less taxes and less government services and intrusions. After 9/11, was concerned about, though not against Patriot Act. Boy was I wrong on that one, figured that much out before Bush was out of office.
