However, Blacks seem to continue to be underrepresented. I suspect it's because they lack the requisite education and skills to do the more skilled construction jobs, while being too busy protesting and looting to do the unskilled ones...

Maybe there's an alternate reason there, but other minorities are well represented and growing as a portion of the construction industry.

No. You and Fox News are ridiculing the boogeyman.

You are doing a good job of ridiculing yourselves.

I am ridiculing a moron (Buttplug). Anyone who thinks highways are "racist" or is focused, as in this thread, on the racial make up of construction workers is a moron, particularly when they are in such a high position.

See? You proved my point. You are ridiculing a boogeyman. He doesn't think highways are racist. You think that way because Fox News tells you to think that.

im truly surprised it is that low. In Texas most cement, framing , carpet, painting, drywall and roofing is done by Mexican labor.

I just watched a video of Marjorie Taylor Greene saying:

“I know a ton of white people that are as lazy and sorry and probably worse than black people I know.”

Yes, Buttplug has said, and repeatedly said, US roads are racist. He must believe it to repeat that idea frequently. If he doesn't believe it, then he's a serial liar.

I especially love when you can prove a point using those who favor it for evidence...

I see comprehension is not your forte. He was talking about the history of separating the whites and the minorities. Segregation rings any bells?

Prove that it was done deliberately as part of the national highway scheme...

It's in the first article you linked to.

But in other cases, highway planners eyed routes through populated areas — and "inevitably, this sent interstates barreling through the poorest parts of town," Swift said. "In the years during which the system was being laid out, that usually meant African American neighborhoods."

"In hindsight, we correctly understand that a tacit racism was a part of many of the planners’ decisions," said Tom Lewis, the author of "Divided Highways" and a professor of English at Skidmore College. "It was rarely, if ever, overt. Planners had little guidance other than to create a safe highway at the least possible cost."

But he added: "The effects on the underrepresented, especially Blacks and Latinos, were devastating."

There are numerous examples of Interstate highways tearing through existing neighborhoods populated largely by people of color.

In Miami, I-95 ran through the predominantly Black neighborhood of Overtown. In Alabama, portions of I-65 or I-85 were routed through Black communities in Montgomery and Birmingham. In Los Angeles, freeway planners targeted Boyle Heights, a neighborhood with many Mexican Americans.

Opinion isn't fact, and anecdote isn't evidence. One look at a map, particularly maps dating back to when those freeways were built puts lie to this utter and complete bullshit.

And, your quotes prove my point. Highways aren't racist. Seeing racism in the choices made at the the time is utter bullshit.

One more time... he doesn't think the highways are racist. That makes zero sense.

Are you claiming that constructions of anything are not influenced by racism at that time?

How about the Green Book?

Sundown cities?

You can't have it both ways. Either the engineers, etc., planned those highways without thinking something like, Let's put it through this neighborhood of N....rs and bust 'em up or they didn't. I say they didn't. Buttplug says they did.
