There's a difference between "we knew nothing about this" and "what you told us about this was not true." Of course, what they did know was enough and Congress is culpable for acquiescing and allowing the practice of torture to be official US policy.

I've been saying for a long time now that, at the very least, there needs to be a new Church Commission to investigate the intelligence services.

No they did it as an April fools joke without telling me beforehand. I went along with it after I found out. Now they changed my thing to goddess which I didn't do either. I am just a play thing to them!

I was nice yesterday. My wife and I are pretty hard core about April Fools day pranks. Since were leaving on vacation soon we decided to take a pass this year.

I think my best April Fools prank was when I set every clock, watch and time piece in our home back an hour and she went to work an hour early. Then there was the time she put the "For Sale" sign on my car.

Let me see if I got this right... secret spy people played fast and loose with the facts with polititians ? And we are calling for the heads of the sefret spy guys and not the polititians who do the same thing ? After Carter dismantled the intel world and congress allowed it, its probably pretty reasonable to believe a reconstructed intel world would be more careful what it tells congress. And come on... these are secret spy guys, managing "the truth" is what they do for a living.

Joke or no April fools joke, the Posters on this Forum, from both sides of the political aisle, seem to have been happy that you were "named" to a Moderator position, so maybe the "big boy Mods" need to re-evaluate the postings concerning your Mod appointment and do a retake and actually appoint you as maybe the only Liberal Mod on this Forum as well as being the only Female Mod, although at one point I thought that "Sho Sho", aka (Sho 75) was a Gal. I don't think it was very funny, but you may get the last laugh anyway Darla, because you seem to be the most popular poster on this Forum, and that "Congratulations Darla" thread proved it....so let's go Damo, do your thing, "sho" some chutzpa, the people have spoken, you can make this Right, no pun intended.....

Except that in order for Congress to make decisions they have to be informed about the actions of the secret spy guys, which is why we have an intelligence committee to begin with. And Obama owns this shit as well. It's HIS agency. He should be impeached for this.

When the oversight committees started leaking information (their staffers specifically) they abandoned that access. Intel guys never like dealing with pols in the best of environments. The pols brought this on themselves. In the older days pols knew better than to not keep their mouths shut. But once politics began having to get played out on tv... well lets just say that was a bad idea. Agreed BO has failed here but I cant decide if he refused to hear, cabinet was too scared to say or he knew and was just keeping his mouth shut. Just so we are clear, we have been doing unpleasant things in the intel world forever and we always will. Its useful to know that you follow a process not necessarily for the effect on one individual but on all the others like him. Consistancy matters.

It's Congress's DUTY to inform people of wrong doing by the intelligence community. If you don't like people talking about what you do, then find another job or don't give them a reason to talk about it.
