MLB requires photo ID to pick up tickets from Will Call, but boycotts Georgia for voter ID law

Major League Baseball responded to calls to boycott the state of Georgia over a controversial new voter-ID law by moving the All-Star game out of the Peach State.

But teams still requires fans to show photo ID to pick up their tickets from the Will Call booth.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace called the league out on Twitter.

"Hey @MLB, this you?" she wrote, along with a screenshot of the Will Call policy at mlb.com

The league did not respond to multiple requests for an explanation of its photo ID policy for ticket retrieval.

If only the law was simply about voter ID.

It criminalizes “line-warming” or offering food and water to individuals waiting to vote, a practice that has become popular as the Georgia GOP has dramatically reduced the number of polling places over the past 10 years, increasing the amount of time voters — especially voters in mostly black precincts — must wait in line to cast their ballot.

The new law also allows for unlimited challenges to a voter’s registration — a tactic that has been used to racially profile voters, intimidate them from voting, or knock them off the voter rolls completely.*

ends the use of portable polling sites, like the mobile voting buses used in Democratic Fulton County last cycle.*

It also cuts the time people have to request an absentee ballot and limits where ballot drop boxes can be placed and when they can be accessed.

removes the secretary of state as chair of the State Election Board, allowing the SEB and lawmakers a process to temporarily take over elections offices and limiting the number, location and access to secure absentee drop boxes.

..............

My personal conclusion...

If Georgia Republicans want to lead the nation and ensure all Americans who want to vote can... make election day a state holiday. Do everything else and make it a "day-off" to vote.

But Georgia Republicans want less people to vote to ensure they remain in power. There is little in the bill that encourages more Americans to vote.

Regardless, comparing picking up MLB tickets to voting is just dumb.

Make election day a National Holiday

Oh, blow it out your ass!

Anyone from anywhere can buy a ticket on line, you simpleton. Hence the ID requirement.

Registered voters have a postal address and a register to sign in at polling stations. A simple check of any recent vote from a previous year, or a stamped postal letter with a social security card, drivers license can do the trick...also, in my town, pre-voter cards are mailed to my home showing my registration and informing me of up coming elections.

But here's why you and your ilk are SO full of shyte regarding voter integrity:

And note, dear readers, that Dump and his flock of flunkies didn't have jack-doodle to say about the following regarding Georgia:

Not one peep from the right wing media, or Dump or YOU regarding this.

Did you ever wonder why so few blacks were in the stands at baseball games? Its obvious. They require ID. It’s a way of limiting the number of blacks attending.

Who the fuck picks up tickets at will call? Teams no longer send out paper tickets to season ticket holders.

Why didn't Fox ask MLB why they still require cash for every ticket they sell? It would make as much sense.

I pick up tickets at "will call" for almost every kind of entertainment.

I know that you've got "will call" tickets for a Braves game or something.
I go to the window, swallow my pride and say that I'm volsrock,
the cashier just gives me your tickets, which were prepaid by credit card,
and I sell them to some poor schlub who doesn't know that they're stolen.

This, to me, is a situation IDENTICAL to voting.

only by political parties/ not poll workers.. I think it'ssilly- no one trades votes for water -
but it'snot illegal for disinterested parties to do so

The new law also allows for unlimited challenges to a voter’s registration — a tactic that has been used to racially profile voters, intimidate them from voting, or knock them off the voter rolls completely.*
expand. what is unlimited? 100 times? registration needs to show an ID -what's wrong with that?

ends the use of portable polling sites, like the mobile voting buses used in Democratic Fulton County last cycle.*
good. why is this needed? you can do absentee or drop off at a polling place or inpeson.
where your activities are monitored - do you want no security in a voting place?
It also cuts the time people have to request an absentee ballot and limits where ballot drop boxes can be placed and when they can be accessed.
so what? is there plenty of time to request? yes. drop boxes willy nilly encourage ballot harvesting
removes the secretary of state as chair of the State Election Board, allowing the SEB and lawmakers a process to temporarily take over elections offices and limiting the number, location and access to secure absentee drop boxes
Sec of state is empowered by legislature -the sole purview of election law is the legislature
the sec of state overstepped his authority last time and there was no viable recourse -now there is
