Mitch McConnell reveals a fundamental truth about donald trump

McConnell's a disgusting sack of dung but even he gets it right once a century.

"In advance of the January 2021 Senate runoffs in Georgia, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said that he believed Trump's continued focus on the 2020 election was about something other than contesting the results.

"What it looks to me like he's doing is setting this up so he can blame the governor and the secretary of state if we lose," McConnell told the reporters for the book in December 2020. "He's always setting up somebody to blame it on."

Consider:

* Trump's loss in the 2016 Iowa caucuses was because Ted Cruz cheated -- or something.
* The FBI investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election was because then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself.
* The coronavirus was China's fault.
* The early testing snafus for the virus were Barack Obama's fault.
* The long battle against the virus was Anthony Fauci's fault.
* The rocky response to Hurricane Maria was Puerto Rico's fault.
* His loss in the 2020 election was the fault of Republican governors like Doug Ducey of Arizona and Brian Kemp of Georgia who were insufficiently loyal to him. Oh, and also Vice President Mike Pence for not overturning the Electoral College results even though he had no ability to do so.
* The January 6 riot at the US Capitol was Nancy Pelosi's fault.
* His ongoing legal problems are the fault of "vicious, horrible prosecutors."

There's dozens of these examples. And they all tell the same story: If and when anything goes bad for Trump, he immediately looks to find someone to blame. It's almost Pavlovian.

It's also the exact opposite of leadership.

you gota be kidding? Biden blames everyone and everything else.
'Putin's price hike" when inflation started up when Biden was elected ( and not under the Trump recovery)

Yesterday it was the debt -actually blaming Trump for the debt that Congress went bonkers over spending trillions on "covid relief" (much still not spent while Biden wants more)

Trump has been investigated so many times and came up blank. Impeached over a phone call (While Biden was offering the real quid pro quo for billions to Ukraine in return for firing the prosecutor looking at Burisma)

But this thread does show what weasel McConnell is - he can't hold his own party on crucial votes
There is much to detest about Pelosi and Schumer - but they DO get their party line votes
( except crazy stuff like BBB)

The Trump supporters have two main advantages over the people who see Trump as a danger to our government...and to the world in general. The are nuts and they are stupid.

Duct tape will not repair either of those things...nor will almost anything else found in the average trailer park.

I say...fuck them and Trump.

You are so far off. This thread is about Trump never taking the blame for his messes and crimes. You respond by attacking Biden. Putin contributed to world inflation with his war of choice. It is just that easy. There is nobody of value who argues against that.

That's absurd whataboutism.

Evading blame is a long-term strategy for Trump, that is very obvious when you look back at his words and actions. It's like he's playing chess w/ it - he's thinking 2-3 events into the future, and always setting up scapegoats.

Terrible reply above.

I addressed a couple of points. Biden gets a fee pass from the press in most cases.
The Hunter Laptop and the obvius quid pro quo in Ukraine for Burisma
I addressed inflation - it started as soon as Biden was elected - the Trump recovery did not have inflation

Do i need to repeat this again?

Inflation is a global issue.

i dont pay much attention to what you say. all you do is bitvh about my posts without offering an original thought

and in case you didn't notice the blame game (including Trump and Biden) is a common political foil

Nah. I usually bring up facts that you can't refute, so you end up resorting to ad homs.

Really? I don't remember even one instance of trump saying "the buck stops here" or "I take responsibility."

the RATE of inflation in the USA is record breaking and higher then most developed countries.
This was not the case under Trump -see if you can post more then a simplistic blurb

The differences are hardly significant enough to make any sort of claim that the U.S. has done something unusual or that caused significantly increased inflation.

Most countries are dealing w/ a fairly high level. The differences among the top 20 or so countries are fairly marginal. You're trying to make some overarching point about roughly 1-2% deviation.

Trump is a fascist. You would be happy with Mussolini, he kept the trains on time.

Trump has been investigated so many times and came up blank.

trump's supposed charity was shutdown for committing felonies. Several of his companies have committed felonies. trump has certainly paid fines based on his tax cheating.

We all know that companies cannot commit felonies anymore than rocks can commit felonies. They are inanimate objects, so it is people, like trump, who are really committing the felonies.

Meanwhile Republicans have investigated Clinton for 30 years, in hundreds of investigations, and have her on NOTHING. They grilled her for 11 hours, and got her on NOTHING. Maybe trump should stop taking the 5th Amendment and have the guts to testify like Clinton?

While Biden was offering the real quid pro quo for billions to Ukraine in return for firing the prosecutor looking at Burisma

Once again, prove it. Democrats were able to prove trump did what trump did, but Republicans have spent years unable to prove their claims.

IMO if trump had won in 2020 the rate of US inflation would still be record-breaking because it's about the effects of the pandemic.

Id have to look it up. No question Trump is bombastic and self promoting- it who he is

My point is Biden is a stumblebum - when he's not wondering around like the Obama visit
he's barking at voters or his statements trail off, or he starts to reminis.
But mostly he blames everyone else..they all do

That's always the defense of Trump - on this, or regarding his pathological lying.

"They all lie...they all blame others." It's actually really telling - no one tries to deny that Trump does either, prolifically.

you dont know that. (edit - i didnt see IMO)
Inflation started when Biden was elected, and took off after he was in Office
He spent even more then a derelict Congress did under Trump. HE IS STILL CALLING FOR MORE SPENDING

Inflation isn't just the pandemic (shortages) it's Congress and monetary policy
