Misogynists rejoice!

Both stories involve issues that have become increasingly common. There's a thread about the NC shooting here, and it made the news. Some of us are almost numb over cop shootings, they're happening with such regularity.

Trollop started a new thread in Off Topic several hours after I mentioned that senseless killing here, I wonder why?

I would expect him to say the minimum required, or something like "my client realizes he was wrong and is sorry." Instead he implies that the kid's life would have been ruined by the victim.

Wouldn't that be tantamount to an admission of guilt? What I want to know is why is the media is all over this story, even over here?

Borbo never met a sexual assaulter that he couldn't defend. He can't understand why anyone would take the victim's side.
Poor Borbo.

So there you are Twatsky, finally crawled out of your hole. You just make up shit, I stood up to much worse from Darla, Rune and Dantes. You are but a pimple on Darla's arse. I defend the rule of law and the right of any defendant to a fair trial. I don't believe in trial by media or single issue pressure groups. Now go back to humping Trollop up the arse, that's more your metier.

Tom defended Adam Johnson, who admitted grooming an underage girl for sex.

Real Britons (as opposed to Irish wannabes) mock Johnson for noncin'.

you either trust the court or you dont. funny that liberals who say judges cannot be biased now complain about this :)

Maybe somebody could tell me why this case has garnered so much publicity including over here? Yet here is the case of a real psycho and his deranged girlfriend that raped and killed a woman for refusing to be part of a threesome. This loathsome bastard should never see the light of day again in my opinion, so why is this not the big story? You are a strange lot over there, naturally Twatsky will say nothing about it!!

He was guilty, otherwise he would have walked free. For now he got two years' probation. I think the judge sends a bad message to imply that sexually touching someone without their permission gets a slap on the wrist.

Here's another example of something that happened here and is being prosecuted. It's similar to the other story except for the age of the perp.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Wei-Ming Shi, 58, an accountant who lives in Mt. Lebanon, took off running from our camera when he left the federal courthouse after his initial appearance Friday.
Shi appeared in front of the federal magistrate on charges of unlawful sexual contact aboard an aircraft and engaging in sexual contact without a person’s permission. He’s accused of assaulting a woman on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Pittsburgh Thursday night.

“The defendant who was on a flight from Las Vegas to Pittsburgh last night committed a sexual assault against a sleeping passenger in the next seat,” U.S. Attorney Dave Hickton said.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the FBI, Shi was sitting next to a woman on his flight when he put his hands under her dress and on her inner thigh and buttocks up to the edges of her underwear while she slept. Awakened by the alleged assault, the woman told a flight attendant what had happened and had her seat changed. When the flight landed at Pittsburgh International, Wei-Ming Shi was taken into custody by Allegheny County Police.

...The FBI says Shi claims he was getting mixed signals from the woman and that he was not under the influence of alcohol. The victim told authorities she did not give Shi permission to touch her. Authorities say they haven’t dealt with a case like this before.

I am not condoning what he did, I am just questioning why this has become such a big story. Especially when you consider the truly disgusting crime committed by those two in post 30. Anyway if somebody thinks they are innocent and intends to appeal, why would they admit their alleged guilt by apologising in advance. I also think that the court and the judge got to see all the evidence and should be allowed to prevail without interference. It never sits right with me when single issue pressure groups demand draconian action, to suit their narrow agenda, without recourse to the facts. I am afraid we will have to differ on this, I dislike trial by media intensely.

Rape crimes have sharply declined in recent years, still too high but a step in the right direction, but you'd never know that if you only read the mass media and listened to single issue pressure groups.

Until the numbers decline to zero, there is no such thing as "good news" in data about rape and sexual assault. However, the trends as measured by BJS are going in the right direction. Between 1997 and 2013, the rate of rape or sexual assault against women dropped by about 50 percent. Again, too high, but going in the right direction. The decline in the rate of sexual assault is part of a widely observed decline in violent crime more generally, which is down about 60 percent over the past 15 to 20 years.

Will Tom protest that his sentence was too harsh?

A former Stanford swimmer convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman outside a campus party is expected to be released from jail Friday.

The early release for Brock Turner, who will have served three months out of a six-month sentence, was widely expected when he was sentenced in June. Jail records and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, which runs the Main Jail in San Jose where Turner is being held, have confirmed the release date.

Turner was convicted of assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object.

The basis of the conviction was a Jan. 18, 2015 encounter where he was seen thrusting his hips atop an unconscious woman outside the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Two Stanford graduate students called police and chased down Turner.

A foreign object?
He must have been merely "grooming her" for sex.
No doubt about it, Tom will say the sentence was, "too harsh".
LOL
