I don't know if it was actual breaking so much as using it in a way that was never intended and tainted with a good dose of political corruption. After all, Merchan tried to mitigate the damage by handing out a sentence of unconditional discharge which amounts "You're guilty but I'm not going to sentence you to anything as punishment for that..."
It kind of amounts to a situation where Bragg and Merchan were trying to keep Trump from being reelected, but that failed entirely and badly so they were now faced with a major dilemma: Do they follow through with an actual felony level sentence that will get tossed on appeal like yesterday now that Trump is President, or do they try and mitigate the damage their bogus case has boomeranged on them? Merchan chose the latter by handing down a non-sentence which makes zero sense.

No, Merchan recognized that their (his and Bragg's) case had imploded in their face and he needed to get the hell out of dodge without wrecking his and Bragg's careers. The intent was to keep Trump out of the White House and when that failed, their convoluted bullshit was now on Front Street and they knew they were fucked if they tried to pin a felony level sentence on the president elect.

The judge tainted the jury. The judge also exceeded her authority by claiming property valuation authority, and even in a State where she had no jurisdiction at all. BOTH the prosecutor and the judge were 'out to get Trump' long before the 'court' case itself was even called.
A kangaroo court is AGAINST THE LAW.
The prosecutor was muckraking instead of presenting relevant evidence.
No fraud occurred. The banks were paid and are completely willing to do business with Trump again.

You do realize that of the almost 90 people indicted for fraud in Minnesota so far over 90% have been Somalis and Minnesota is only 2% Somali. That alone destroys your moron broadcaster's main point. And what kind of child care center has a misspelled sign and parents don't point it out when they drop off kids? Also what kind of day care center has no windows and no playground? Also 2 pm to 8 pm is weird hours. Shirley went to multiple other daycares and the few that did answer the door were not interested in enrolling a new student. At least one place had two daycares listed in the same space. And the broadcaster in your video made a big deal about Shirley's age but failed to mention the older businessman that has been investigating the fraud and had multiple businesses that were at least on the face of it committing fraud and he had the exact amounts of money they had collected. In one daycare there were no foot prints in the snow in front of the facility. You would think parents can kids dropping off kids would have left shoe prints.
