And their contract is illegal so what. You can't discriminate on the bases of race....period. How about this, fire the bad teachers and keep the good teachers regardless of their race. What an great idea!!!

Re-read the story. They said why race is a factor now.

The teachers voted to approve it, didn’t they? Then, the teachers spoke.

It’s not the parents’ contract. It’s the teachers’ contract.

In concept, the “fire the bad teachers” idea is great. In practice, it probably doesn’t work. Do you think they get the very best teachers at those 15 poverty-stricken schools? Of course not.

I read it and my question Still Remains why is race a factor? Yes it is the teacher's contract and they approved it rather quickly to and a strike so did they really know what was in it? I'd like to hear from teachers in that system and I'm not sure why you don't think parents are concerned... the teacher's contract affects their children after all... in a rather big way wouldn't you say?
