He is a lot smarter than he is being given credit for here, I don't agree with everything he says but it is just brilliant the way he boils the piss of the regressive left. He is a bit of a chameleon though, for instance his real name is Milo Hanrahan.

The leftys want transparency and that's what we're giving them. With DJT what you see is what you get. Same with Milo and a few others. We're giving no phony PC...just transparency in spades. They should have been more careful of what they wished for. They can't handle it and it's worth the price of admission to watch their meltdown.

I think in the annals of American history, protectionism hasn't been advocated by too many mainstream groups. Conservatives like Hamilton, Clay, and Lincoln advocated certain amounts of protectionism exclusively for the purpose of developing American industry from the ground-up. After the Civil War, when the second industrial revolution was under way, Republicans moved away from protectionism, and only flirted with it again at the outset of the Great Depression.

Jeffersonian and Jacksonian liberals, meanwhile, were basically opposed to tariffs, and basically advocated for free trade. While Jackson feuded with Calhoun over tariffs, both of them were at odds with the conservative north when it came to commerce and finance.

The emergence of leftism owes a lot to the globalist tendencies of Wilson, and then FDR. Unless there is a change in economic outlook brought on by the Sanders wing of the Democratic Party, then we shouldn't be seeing a push for protectionism anytime soon, as it is often likened to nativism. Neocons, who evolved from leftism, are obviously in the internationalist camp on most matters, as well.

Basically, protectionism never really had a lot of traction in American political life, despite the early history when Federalists and Whigs promoted it for pragmatic reasons.

He's a troll. He even said so in Maher's interview. I mean he's got a point that hyper partisan people need to get over themselves and Milo knows he's trolling or he wouldn't laugh at himself when told to "Go Fuck Himeself" when he insults people. As for speaking the truth, as I said earlier, anyone who makes you laugh is probably speaking a truth or you wouldn't be laughing. That's not the same as one always speaking the truth or even being right about a particular issue.

Anyone who takes Milo seriously on either side of the aisle needs to grow up and get over themselves.

All. Conservatism has stood for free markets, free trade and the free movement of people. That doesn't mean open borders but it is not banning people and reducing legal immigration.

Any conservative who takes Milo seriously is as stupid as any liberal moonbat who takes him seriously. Milo is a comedian who trolls people to get a response and he does so in a way I find both witty and charming and funny but he's just as capable of turning that wit on wingnut conservatives as he does moonbat liberals. If you listen to Milo carefully he's no conservative. He's like the opposite of me when with my vicious attacks on the far right. The fact that he viciously attacks the far left doesn't make him a proxy conservative. It means he's taking a critical point of view that has some legitimate points. Now, when Milo calls a true expert on national intelligence stupid and that expert responds that someone who thinks Saudi's are a greater threat to this nation than Russian intelligence is a naïve fool, well I'm giving the intelligence expert the benefit of the doubt. Now when Milo laughs when he gets owned like that well only an idiot would believe he's not trolling.

Milo is an entertainer. Hell he laughed harder than I did when Malcolm Nance asked him on the controversy over Russian intelligence interfering with the U.S. election, which Milo was dismissive about, "Are you a U.S. Citizen?" to which Milo said "No" and Nance aptly replied "Well then go fuck yourself.". The fact that everyone laughed, including Milo, tells you all the truth you need to know about his being a troll.

In all I like Milo...he's a snarky little Castro Street snob who is well read, quite witty and knows how to push peoples button. My gay brother had quite a few snarky little twink buddies who were a lot like Milo. Witty and offensive at the same time but not people you take seriously.
