So a whole generation will grow up thinking the troll Milo is what conservatism is about? This is sad.

were part of the party now and deserve a seat in it :3

conservative nationalism :D

newhoo. I think CPAC would be great if they focused on the next generation. Get Crowder, Shapiro, and Milo to speak. People can see the different viewpoints.

CPAC isn't the party. This is the equivalent of inviting the John Birch Society to come speak.

in the ideal world where a conservative movement exists apart from the GOP politically it is not. In the real world where the GOP and conservatism are so closely tied as to be synonymous it is.

Your application of conservatism divorced from the party leads to joke candidates like mcmullin.

Milo is a good foot soldier.

He's kind of like a political hockey goon. An ugly but necessary part of the team.

He brings the fight when it's needed.

Is that new? Rush Limbaugh has been tossing his slimy brand of right wing propaganda based on Goebells propaganda model at CPAC for decades and his form of bigotry has come to define modern conservatism. You're fighting a losing battle with your center right pro-business politics Wacko. There's no place for people as liberal as you in the modern Republican Party.

**where** it is disturbing to see how the GOP has all but given up on college campuses.

True.

But I graduated university 33 years ago and there wasn't any sort of GOP presence around then either.

About half of collegiate liberal indoctrination is eradicated when the first paycheck arrives and the deductions hit home.

For a guy claiming he was not into party politics before the Trump candidacy, I see you've brought your version of honesty into this thread that matches your populist commitment to American values.

I honestly wish that were true. I bullshited myself for years that groups like CPAC were a fringe element of the GOP. They are not. If folks like you and Wacko represented mainstream GOP politics I'd still be a Republican. By the standards of the south and rural Midwest you two represent the far liberal wing of the GOP.

I never had a party represent me before :) Some people say they didnt leave the party the party left them. Well I didnt join the GOP the GOP joined me. Its like you built your tent around me over the last year lol.

Does this surprise you given the the openly hostile anti-intellectualism of the modern GOP?

When I was in college there was an open competition between more conservative science and business faculty and the liberal arts faculty in the school place of ideas. That has changed dramatically in the last 30 years. Much of that is due to anti-intellectual attacks on science. Another part of it is any ideology in academia has to be defended. That's just a part of teaching critical thinking but students who believe in conservative philosophies based on arguments from authority can't deal with having those arguments challenged. This is a big reason why conservatives have abandoned academia in the battleground of ideas. So who's the snowflake?

Nationalism is not a conservative principle?

Since when?
since our Republic was founded. You're confusing patriotism and nationalism. Patriotism is solid conservative bedrock principle. Nationalism is a chauvinistic and bigoted notion of one national identity being inherently superior to all others.

Ask the Germans, British, French, Russians and Japanese where nationalism got them in the first half of the 20th century. Look where it got us in Vietnam and Iraq.

you guys need to marginalize the alt-right crowd who espouse hate.
not all of alt-right-the economic nationalist are fine -i'm one of them.
But the hate peeps got to go. Milo has nothing to recommend him as a speaker

the alt-right is similar in some respects to the paleo conservatism of buchanan and of course similar to perot as well.
that's the sane part of it..Buchanan is a sensible guy America First, and no interventionism.
Perot was about smaller government ( federalism) and educing debt..

That's what the alt-right should be -go for it!

Seriously? I joined the young Republicans on my college campus and Republicans had a more active presence on campus cause at that time 34 years ago as most Democratic Party activists were working class union guys.
