Mike Meyers on the Supreme Court?

"...Not a good thing that she has no experience in the appellate arena."

You must have blown an artery when Rehnquist was appointed to the court, and again when he became Chief Justice. Thirty-three years as a Supreme with no previous judicial experience.
No, I did not like it. And I'm willing to bet YOU don;t like most of his opinions either.

And while I did agree with his views of federalism, I think his views of the 14th Amendment were no less colored by wishing what it says as opposed to what it does say than what many liberal judges are accused of today.

I agree with many of his decisions and/or dissenting opinions in principle, though I also believe that often as not, he arrived at those decisions and/or opinions for the wrong reasons - not because of what the Constitution says, but how he personally believed things should be.

As for the length of time he spent on the Court - that is the natural consequence of receiving a lifetime appointment.

IMO, if he'd spent at least a few of his pre-SCOTUS years behind the bench, he would have made a much better justice.

So no judicial experience? Does that, in your mind mean that she would not be a good Supreme Court Justice? Did you not like William Rehnquist, because he was NEVER a judge. Neither was Brandeis, Powell or Black. The CATO institute, which is not liberal says she "absolutely has the credentials and intellectual chops to be a Supreme Court justice." HERE Third article down.

That's why Republicans laughed at the Hariet Myers nomination and got Bush to appoint Alito instead.

I will also point out that SM actually has a point with his originalist comment, because if someone has no respect for the writing of the Constitution, then what the fuck are they doing in a position to interpret what it says?

William Rehnquist was an Associate Justice,

Harriet Myers had absolutely no qualification anywhere. Her nomination was, quite frankly, bizarre. I honestly wish she would've gotten it above Alito. Experience with reality naturally makes those who are not stuck in their ways more liberal, because liberalism is reality, and conservatism is a sign of an evil and immoral nature that should be terminated before it infects others in society with its disease.

This is why all conservatives should be euthanzied by the animal control department, as you would a rabid dog. Conservatism is a dangerous and contagious disease with no known cure.

And your poor wife, Flat Stanley, has about the worst judgement of the millenia. One look at your fat ass in that recliner chair and your fat ugly, bloated mug, and not only does she have bad judgement, she is legally blind.

You didn't just get hit with the ugly stick, you were beaten to a pulp with it!

Unable to get the effect she'd hoped for by making her ridiculous fat jokes, disloyal, that barren sack of unfertilized, dried up eggs goes for my wife.

I may have gotten hit by the ugly stick, but disloyal furiously rubs it twixt her nether regions every night. It's the only way she can pretend she's still a "woman". Good God, it's no WONDER you emit that strange tuna smell!
