By now you’ve likely heard that Representative Mike Johnson—the congressman Republicans finally elected as the new Speaker of the House after 22 days of chaos—played a significant role in the plot to overturn the 2020 election, a lowlight on his résumé that is obviously deeply concerning for the future of democracy. Also extremely worrisome? Johnson’s wildly bigoted remarks about homosexuality over the years, and the fact that he supported criminalizing gay sex between consenting adults.

CNN’s KFile reports that prior to his career in politics, Johnson wrote a series of deeply homophobic editorials in his role as an attorney for the socially conservative legal group now known as Alliance Defending Freedom. In one, he wrote:

“Homosexual relationships are inherently unnatural and, the studies clearly show, are ultimately harmful and costly for everyone. Society cannot give its stamp of approval to such a dangerous lifestyle. If we change marriage for this tiny, modern minority, we will have to do it for every deviant group. Polygamists, polyamorists, pedophiles, and others will be next in line to claim equal protection. They already are. There will be no legal basis to deny a bisexual the right to marry a partner of each sex, or a person to marry his pet.”

He is also one who believes 'thoughts and prayers' are the only real response we can offer to mass shootings.

Oh he also blames women having abortions for the mass shootings. His logic goes something like this.

- women having abortions has lead to this labour shortage
- that leads young men to have less hope
- thus mass shootings occur


Do not try to connect those dots as it makes no sense, but old speeches by him suggested just that.
 
Mike Johnson is a Christian Nationalist and a traitor. Every Republican voted for him for speaker. If we needed another nail to put into the GOP coffin, Johnson is the Golden Spike. He will be the lead clown in the clown show.

He was born and raised in Louisiana so, yeah.

He graduated from a Louisiana HS, a Louisiana College and a Louisiana Law School (which is tied for 99th place in US law schools). The Louisiana Bar isn't set very high. :thup:

I'd forgotten all about that. Remember all the screeching from the MAGAT virtue-signalers here about Biden's four-yo g-daughter and how horrible that she doesn't appear in any family photos or have a Christmas stocking? Do you think that they'll be equally upset about Michael, Johnson's alleged adopted Black son? Yeah, me neither.

...just after the death of George Floyd in June 2020 in which he revealed that he had an adopted black son, Michael. Johnson went on to explain that there was no question that his black 14-year-old son Michael faced challenges that his white fourteen year old Will never would. Many on the leftward side of the political spectrum were struck by Johnson’s empathy and frank recognition of discrimination in contemporary America while right wingers denounced him for his wokeness.

I had only heard this story in passing until this evening when TPM Reader RS flagged something odd about the story. No African-American son shows up in any of the family photographs on Johnson’s House website or on his personal Facebook page. Nor does Michael figure anywhere in any of Johnson’s campaign biographies.

So Johnson a is 51 and his Black "son" is 40 and Johnson rescued Michael his black "son" off the street when Johnson and his wife were newlyweds. His 40 year old black "son" has not lived in Johnson's house for years. So it isn't surprising that Michael does not appear in more recent family photos. Instead of condemning Johnson you should be praising Johnson for saving Micheal from the mean streets while Johnson and his wife were YOUNG newly weds. Johnson obviously has a very big heart. You only the other hand are a foul woman.
 
BTW, this demonstrates that the speaker of the US House of Representatives does not even understand the LEGAL definition of marriage and what it represents. He is that fucking stupid. Just wow.

For those of you who happen to be just as stupid as Johnson....

A pet cannot be party to a contract of any kind. A marriage contract is established between two and ONLY two people. If that was not the case, the contract would be impossible to legally enforce.

Just stop.
