Middle Class moving out of California

its actually going to be the model of the country. You have a wealthy highly specialized upper class with a vast lower class who will work exclusively in service industries to improve the quality of life of the elite. The middle class jobs will go to other countries.

Plenty of room here in NC, and we have great weather, varied geography. Just leave your liberal politics back in California.

Nothing new here but more evidence of this state becoming a home to the rich and poor only as middle class folks are forced to leave.

Again....they don't have to leave the state. They just have to leave the cities. NY has one of the most expensive markets in the country. That doesn't mean the cost of living is the same 50 miles away.

The problem is lack of jobs for a large swath of the middle class.

Capitalism at work.

The average real estate tax on a home in rural New York is three to four times that in most other states.

The Rent Is Too Damn High?

Move to Arizona, it's a lot cheaper to live there! The techies and the rich are driving out the middle class!

It happens I paid my real estate taxes yesterday and it cleaned out my checking account, and then some, and I'm sure property tax is a joke in WV compared to places like CA or NY.

I'm sure CA is a great place to live, but what fun is it if the state and local governments are going to confiscate your money?

I'll stay here, thanks lol.

I pay less here now in NC than I did in rural NYS 20 years ago. I sold the house in NY for $100k and bought this one here for $240k. In NY we hauled our own trash to the transfer station and paid $2/ bag, here we have curb pickup of 96 gallon roll carts for trash and recycling. In NY I had no local police, no public water or sewer, here we have a dedicated sheriff's staff for our town, plus county water and sewer. In NY our town high school was rated statewide as well below average, here we can choose between any of the 8 county high schools and ours is in the top 2% of the state. We also have a dedicated central high school for specialty Advanced Placement courses such as computer networking and calculus II. This same school also has technical curriculum for automotive, building, and other trades.

States are like products or vendors. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

Yes, people are just dying to move to Stockton, Modesto and Tracy. Your lack of understanding of human desire once again doesn't disappoint.

And we implement anti development policies and environmental laws that turn away manufacturing yet you blame caoitalism for the inequality in our state. Brilliant

80% of the economy is the tertiary sector, half of China's economy is tertiary now too. No one is bringing back manufacturing. Cry me a river, get a fucking education.

same thing in Maryland..more millionaires per capita then any other state -
and then Baltimore.
Of course the oligarchs ring the District.

When a Republican gets elected in Maryland, I think "Great, that's another 4 years that the MARC and MATA get no money, and projects that we've invested billions in get cancelled so that he can make a show of his conservative credentials, my commutes going to be even shittier". I could care less about paying 1%-2% extra taxes, idiots living in Virginia where it's much more conservative have to drive to work every day and it takes them much longer even though they live much closer. Because they're unwilling to invest in infrastructure to save a couple of percentage points on taxes. One elected Republican can destroy decades of progress. They are like an all consuming virus and parasite on the body politic.

I choose where to live based on where I can get a job, find me a programming job in BFE.

Again - China's economy is half service sector now. There is no going back. It is the way of history. Poor nations do manufacturing, wealthier ones do services.
