Michelle Obama: "For the first time in my adult life, I'm proud of my country."

How proud of my country am I?

I'm so proud if it, that I can even admire it after it has produced people like Hillary, the Obamas, John Edwards, Barbara Streisand, and Teddy Kennedy.

And that takes a LOT of pride to make up for.

You admire your country but what have you ever done for it? My guess is nothing.

I don't have a problem with her comments. "Proud" is a subjective term. She may have been happy during her adult life with the way things were going in this country, but not really been proud until witnessing the way the country is embracing the first viable black and female candidates.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

So saying she has not been proud of her country in 20 years is a lie.

Damn some of you people are so dishonest.

Well that was a stupid thing for her to day. She could have said "I am especially proud" or "really proud" or "super duper proud" but "for the first time in her life" was just plain fucking stoopid.

Friggin lawyers.... need to learn to comprehend what you read....

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Of course it probably doesn't help when someone deletes part of a direct quote..... bad acorn... bad

Side note Socrtease.... yes, I do realize that you were very likely being sarcastic. But hey, if a lawyer leaves an opening in their argument, then they shall be lawyered.

In all fairness to some of those people, Acorn deleted the "really" from that quote. So those that did not go to the link may not have seen that.

Wow Acorn. What a hack you are.

You deliberately edited out a word in her quote. How dishonest of you.

I was wrong about this. My apologies.

The source where I first found this referenced, quoted Obama as i indicated in my title. They also included a link to the article, where the quote was given correctly, including the word "really".

I failed to check the original article carefully. I merely glanced at it, and assumed it was identical.

I will be sure to check the original source carefully 9in the future, so I will not make the same mistake again.

I apologize for my screwup.

ON EDIT:

I just went back to the original article, and found that the word "really" is in it now. However, I did a direct copy/paste of the article when I first posted the article, with no changes, as I always do. The word "really" was not in the original article at the time, and my quote of the source was 100% accurate.

Looks like the original author, Sasha Issenberg of www.boston.com, changed his/her "quote" some time after posting his/her article the first time, inserting the word "really" at a later time.

I retract my apology for "My mistake". I quoted the article AND the title accurately, as of the time it was posted.

I apologize instead, for using an unreliable source, Sasha Issenberg. THAT will not happen again.

An internet search shows a number of people giving the original quote without the word "really", as I did, and referencing the same article I referenced. These include the posters at DemocraticUnderground.com: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4646957 . While they are the quintessential smear merchants, I doubt they deliberately fabricated this one.

However, I will continue to copy/past exactly accurate quotes from articles, and list their authors, as I did this time and have always done.

I agree. It's like for want of a comma...

There's a big difference between the statements, and there was no reason for little acorn to alter quoted material except to make his stupid little point. The point you far right lunatics are trying to make is nothing like the subtle and subjective point that she was making that you are too stupid to see.
