MI veto-proof ‘rape insurance’ close to becoming law w/ 4.2% voter approval

you're failure to observe my history of demanding absolute respect of ALL rights notwithstanding, It's more important to point out YOUR hypocrisy in demanding regulation of rights you don't like while respecting others more important to you. something that most of you here refuse to understand is that I respect ALL rights, despite your idiotic insistence that I don't.

IOW you came onto this thread to insult me, not to take a stand on the issue. Got it.

Is there a right to have a pool of purchasers pay for your lung cancer treatment if they're against smoking? Is there a right to have a pool, etc. pay for your drug rehab if they don't use drugs? Is there a right for the pool, etc. to pay for a quadriplegic's rehab if he crashed his Harley driving drunk without wearing a helmet and they're only pedestrians?

you could circulate a petition and see if you get some support........if you get enough in Michigan you could run it through the legislature and see if you got enough votes to pass it......of course, there would have to be two preconditions involved.....one, the ACA would have to have a provision in it that specifically allowed it to happen and two, you would have to get the governor to veto it the first time it passed congress......

then you would have a parallel for your "tyranny of the minority".......

????.....uh, isn't that what the liberals have spent the last five years doing?......

Obama campaigned on reforming healthcare.

Obama was elected before the law was passed and re-elected after.

If healthcare was a real sticking point with cons they should have done a better job of electing their own candidate in 2012.

What really grinds your gears is that so many people are benefiting from the ACA and it's not even fully in force yet.

that is the point of cost spreading you dim wit.

jesus these people are as dumb as dead weasels

??...before ACA I was able to "spread my costs" among those who faced similar expenses.....I've never had dental insurance my entire life and paid for my care out of my own pocket, now that I'm sixty I have no choice but a policy that spreads a cost to me that I will never ever incur.....

Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. MI Right to Life is a special-interest group. The governor originally vetoed the bill. The special interest group got more signatures so the measure passed without the governor's approval. This all may be 100% legal in your state but that doesn't take away from the fact that rape victims are getting royally screwed twice. Tyranny of the minority.

“This tells women who were raped … that they should have thought ahead and planned for it,” said Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer (D-East Lansing) during debates. “Make no mistake, this is anything but a citizens' initiative. It’s a special interest group’s perverted dream come true.”

The Michigan State Legislature first passed the measure last year, but Governor Rick Snyder (R) vetoed it, saying he does not "believe it is appropriate to tell a woman who becomes pregnant due to a rape that she needed to select elective insurance coverage."

But the anti-abortion group Right to Life of Michigan was able to collect more than 300,000 voter signatures on a petition this year to force a second vote on the measure. Having been passed by both chambers, the bill automatically becomes law now, even without Snyder's approval."

you continue to ignore the fact that a majority of the Congress was also involved......this wasn't 300k voters versus 1 governor.......there is no "minority" involved.....is 27 to 11 in the senate a 'tyranny of the minority'?........

 I'm saying Congress wouldn't have been involved if there was no minority measure put before them.
