Europe can no longer "completely depend" on the US and UK following the election of President Trump and Brexit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel says.
Mrs Merkel said she wanted friendly relations with both countries as well as Russia but Europe now had to "fight for its own destiny".

Her comments come after Mr Trump refused to re-commit to the 2015 Paris climate deal at the G7 summit.

Mrs Merkel is on the campaign trail ahead of elections in September.

"The times in which we could completely depend on others are on the way out. I've experienced that in the last few days," Mrs Merkel told a crowd at an election rally in Munich, southern Germany.

With Trump in office, Merkel is right about not relying on the US as a world leader anymore? Germany can handle this role, I would increase my military, as in rearming! Move up to fourth place in the GFP. Take over the leadership role of NATO and the leader in world on climate change too!

i wouldn't go that far,but I'm happy to see Europe pick up more and more of it's defense.

The genius of NATO is still that Article 5 is the best deterrent and a force multiplier in itself

now if we could just freeze this damn Cold War 2.0.....

honestly given the relative specializations of each army i dont really see why the US ground troops need to be there. The US is great at naval and air power and is good at long range combat. The fastest way to get the US out of combat is to produce meat grinder casualties (and that happens in prolonged infantry combat) as the national morale would break and people would riot to get out of the war.

I'm looking for a 7 year peace agreement to perhaps begin this year in September. I think something big like this will occur because of other major Israel-related events in the past that happen to be exactly 50 years apart.

I might start a thread in Off Topics or Religion, Philosophy, Ethics to continue this because there is a major prophetic event happening in the sky in September which has not occurred in 7,000 years and it fits in perfectly with world events right now which includes the eagle (America) mentioned in Revelation 12.

Thanks Irish. I've got my thoughts together to write concisely and to the point. I don't want ramble on or cause confusion, LOL. :)
