Political partisans use code words and bullshit spin to push their agendas. Gun grabbers made up the term "assault weapon", which has no military usage since assault weapon and assault rifle are two different things. RW religious nuts call a zygote a "baby" to do the same thing.
Now the gun grabbers invented another phrase "gun show loophole" to kill private sales. What they want is to require a background check for every gun transfer in America. Yes, even a father and his 12 year old child receiving a .22 for Christmas.

Taking away rights of Americans and imposing laws turning Americans into criminals is a bad thing. It's not what Americans have fought and died for.
In California, if a father lets his teenage kid shoot a gun without an official transfer, both would be arrested for illegal arms trafficking.

So that's why he didn't get the treatment he needed; no one knew to give it to him until it was too late.
Of course I am not. But do you know that you aren't either? And ... what you propose (closing the so called gun show loophole) will do nothing to stop guns from trading hands "in the dark" every day. Not.one.thing. What it will do is restrict those who follow the law. It will make things more difficult and expensive for them.

Duh. When you require someone to turn in their guns if they don't get a mental health eval, that's an attempt to disarm.
